Adi Saputra (31) was arrested by the police for seizing a mobile passenger in the City Transportation in Pademangan, North Jakarta. Adi pretended to be a police officer and then searched the victim's bag.
"Yes, the perpetrators pretended to be members of the police," said Head of Criminal Investigation of the Police Sector of Pademangan AKP Made Oka when confirmed by reporters on Wednesday (08/29/2010).
This event occurred on Monday (27/8) at 21:30 WIB in front of Grand Boutique Jalan Mangga Dua Raya, Pademangan, North Jakarta. Initially the perpetrators boarded an angkot which included several passengers who were still in their teens.
Although he did not use any attributes, the perpetrator assured the victim that he was a police officer. The perpetrator then told the passengers to go down and search it.
"Initially the perpetrators boarded the angkot. Then the perpetrators pretended to be members of the police and told the victims to get off the angkot and search and take the property of the victims," Oka said.
"The perpetrators did not use any attributes, just normal clothes, the passengers were still children, so they just followed it," he continued.
Oka explained that the perpetrator did not just steal several cellphones. The perpetrators also steal cash from the passengers.
"The victim suffered a loss of 3 units of mobile phones, Asus Zenfone, Samsung Galaxy J2, Xiomi 4A. In addition there was Rp. 4,700,000 cash," he explained.
This case was later reported to the Pademangan police station. The police then arrested Adi along with evidence of a Honda Supra X motorcycle B 6101 TNX and an Asus Zenfone mobile phone. The perpetrator is subject to Article 363 Kuhp regarding theft and weighting with the threat of five years in prison.
Oka confirmed that this incident had no involvement of the angkot driver. The perpetrator claimed to have carried out the action several times, but the angkot was chosen randomly.
"There's nothing (driver involvement), we've searched, so random actors just choose angkot," he concluded.
