ulog #19: My Day

Here is another edition of my #ulog for today, Wednesday 13th June, 2018.
I got to my department this morning to confirm a rumor that our project proposal presentation will not be holding today again. The presentation was re - scheduled to tomorrow because the Student Union Government (SUG) election will be taking place today.


Since the presentation has been rescheduled, i need to do something else as alot of assignments are on queue.
I chose to begin a group assignment on a New Town Master Plan design. This design is to make all necessary provisions for infrastructure, utilities, services, all relevant land uses etc to mention but a few.
It is an academic exercise to expose us to how Master Plans and other policy documents to guide developments of cities/towns are prepared.
The exercise started by visiting the proposed site, collect relevant data in relation to the study and also sampling views/opinions of the residents in the site.

What we are doing now is to bring all the ideals together through analysis and prepare a policy document (Master Plan/Comprehensive Development Plan) that will guide the spatial development of the area visited.
This plan requires production of more than one plan, so my group have decided to produce two(2) different alternatives (A&B).
As a group assignment, the task was divided among my group members and i am to work on one of the alternatives, precisely alternative B.

It requires sud - division of the entire land into various functional and harmonious land uses.

For the New Town, i am designing it in a circular form (concentric) and using Sector Theory. The Central Business District (CBD) will be at the center and other land uses will be located in a concentric form.
As at the time of writing this blog post, the New Town Master Plan is still under design, i mean not completed yet, so stay toned as i will write other blog post(s) as i continue with this design.
