ulog #17: TODAY IN HIS PRESENCE
Today’s Church Service was glorious, though I got to Church late and didn’t attend Sunday’s School because I woke u at exactly 9:00am this morning while the Sunday’s school had already started. I’m glad I was at the service today because it was a blessing.
This morning as always I attended University Baptist Church (UBC) and will love to share today’s experience.
FROM TODAY’S TOPIC: THINGS YOU MUST POSSESS TO EXPERIENCE GOD'S POWER.
DELIVERED BY: REV'D TAYO ABIOLA
The Church theme for the year is “2018 MY YEAR OF EXPERIENCING GOD'S POWER” from which most of the Sermon topics from the beginning of the year revolves around and God has been manifesting Himself through His power.
This experience of God's power should continue for the remaining part of the year and even beyond.
What you and I need to understand is that this experience has requirements, His power will not be manifested if we fail on our own part to fulfill His requirements.
THINGS YOU MUST POSSESS
1. God’s Presence
His power accompanies His presence, this means that wherever God is, it’s sure that His power will also be. If you want to see God’s power? Then you need to be in his presence.
God’s presence was with the children of Israel on their way out of Egypt both day and night.
Exodus 13:20-22
20 The Israelites left Sukkoth and camped at Etham on the edge of the desert. 21 During the day the LORD went in front of them in a pillar of cloud to show them the way, and during the night he went in front of them in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel night and day. 22 The pillar of cloud was always in front of the people during the day, and the pillar of fire at night.
David also had this experience, in Psalm 23:4
4 Even if I go through the deepest darkness,
I will not be afraid, LORD,
for you are with me.
Your shepherd's rod and staff protect me.
Daniel was a man that enjoyed God’s presence always, he was thrown into the Lions Pit but God was with him. Daniel 6:19-22
19 At dawn the king got up and hurried to the pit. 20 When he got there, he called out anxiously, “Daniel, servant of the living God! Was the God you serve so loyally able to save you from the lions?”
21 Daniel answered, “May Your Majesty live forever! 22 God sent his angel to shut the mouths of the lions so that they would not hurt me. He did this because he knew that I was innocent and because I have not wronged you, Your Majesty.”
The three Hebrew men Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego had another encounter with God. In Daniel 3:23-25
23 Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, still tied up, fell into the heart of the blazing fire.
24 Suddenly Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement. He asked his officials, “Didn't we tie up three men and throw them into the blazing furnace?”
They answered, “Yes, we did, Your Majesty.”
25 “Then why do I see four men walking around in the fire?” he asked. “They are not tied up, and they show no sign of being hurt—and the fourth one looks like an angel.”
These men were throne into fire and God was with them to protect them.
2. God’s wisdom
In life, we need wisdom in all we do. Our creator is very wise and we should endeavour to portray His characteristics as His children. In Exodus 3:17-18 God used wisdom.
17 When the king of Egypt let the people go, God did not take them by the road that goes up the coast to Philistia, although it was the shortest way. God thought, “I do not want the people to change their minds and return to Egypt when they see that they are going to have to fight.” 18 Instead, he led them in a roundabout way through the desert toward the Red Sea. The Israelites were armed for battle.
Also in Proverbs 4:7 the Bible speak of wisdom
7 Getting wisdom is the most important thing you can do. Whatever else you get, get insight. 8 Love wisdom, and she will make you great. Embrace her, and she will bring you honor. 9 She will be your crowning glory.”
This wisdom can be accessed through prayers to God James 1:5
5 But if any of you lack wisdom, you should pray to God, who will give it to you; because God gives generously and graciously to all.
3. God’s guidance
Our God is available and ready to guide us daily only if we allow Him to. We can see an example of this in Exodus 3:21 God was always with them.
21 During the day the LORD went in front of them in a pillar of cloud to show them the way, and during the night he went in front of them in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel night and day.
Sometimes we think we can use common sense or have things done our way, but Proverbs 14:12
12 What you think is the right road may lead to death.
Our God is more able to show us the way, Isaiah 30:21
21 If you wander off the road to the right or the left, you will hear his voice behind you saying, “Here is the road. Follow it.”
In His word, he promised to show us the way to follow.
In conclusion
As we journey through the remaining half of the year 2018, we need to always ask for God’s guidance in all we do.
Bless you.

Nothing is more sweet than being in the presence of God.........the best experience one will ever experience
The best place to be is in the presence of God. There is joy, peace and wisdom in God's presence. We need His word to rule our world
The presence of God is all we need. His presence is like heaven on earth and we shouldn't ever take it for granted.
Our own thoughts can't make anything work. We sure need the Holy Spirit to guide and direct us in every step we take.
Just like the psalmist, i am always glad when they say let us go to the house of the lord because in his presence, there is fullness of joy. Thamks for sharing what you learnt.
Next time, wake up early. Smiles
