Murphy's law was it?
I swear as if things are not rough at the moment this had to happen today. What you see here my friends is a palm tree right outside my home having second thoughts about continuing his life on my lawn. Why is that a problem? Well the obvious issue would be it falling on a passing car, but WAIT.. there's more. If you act now, you have to buy another tree.
That is literally what the city just told us. Yes, the tree is a hazard, yes we must remove it, but we are obligated to replace it with a palm tree that is at leas 8 feet tall or else. What? we get fined. This is the part were the sarcastic slow clap starts to build up as I'm attempting to find reasons why not to walk over to city hall and release some steam.
I'm not going to worry about this today, even though that might not be the "smart" thing to do. But, being a few days away from having to pay for the house and scraping still some bills to get to it. I won't be replacing the freaking tree, not right now. I hope however that somehow someway the tree manages to stay up just enough for yours truly to catch a break.
I guess I'm just complaining to my blog at the moment. I know full well it won't change a thing and honestly as with many other bumps in the road I will figure this one out too. I'm considering a sneak attack on the weekend with a chainsaw. But, today, just today, I'm going to ignore it.
This this a compounding version of Murphy's law? Is that even a thing!! Wow.. what a way to start my weekend. As a good friend says - "sometimes you gotta learn to laugh... if not you'll go crazy" - So here I am... laughing...
Sooo, if it were to fall of it's own accord you don't have to replace it?
I would look around the internet and see if there is any way to potentially save it. Like some others have suggested maybe bracing it somehow. Do you think the tree is dying or is the ground very soft from too much rain?
the roots seems to be broken... so the bottom, the base is too flexible.. I dunno if that makes sense. I think the tree is slowly dying its hot a big hole in the middle. It might just be too old.
meno are you a member of a property owners assoc. or does your county have these requirements? I always hate it when someone has the right to require changes to my property. We used to live in a POA development on 5 acres, and they could tell you how many lights you could have on your horse barn!
Resteemed!!!
it gets quite ridiculous huh...
Kill the beast quickly and efficiently! and do it in front of its other tree friends so that it serves as a warning to them against rebellion, the tree that sticks out, gets the chainsaw!
I just might hahahaha
Grab some ratchet straps and pull it up with the other tree. It's not a permanent fix, but it should buy you some time.
the other palm tree is not looking that much better... idk.. it might not be ninja
Cycle the source.
Lol. Government ineptitude deserves so much slow clap, I swear.
Sorry to hear bout this, and hoping something works out. Preferably that benefits you and is a pain in the ass to the city council simultaneously.
employee from the city tells us... if it would have fallen from the hurricane it wouldn't be an issue..
How do you reply to that?
I swear... the word inept falls short
Hi meno. Bit unfair if you ask me. It would be cheaper to put a support in or replant it.
I'm going to call someone on monday, for now i might just put a 2x4 or something to hold it... just in case
Eeegad! I kinda feel like that tree today — and kinda like you, too. Maybe it’s the moon?
ps.....HUGS.
Pull it straight and brace it permanently.
I wonder if the city allows it... I think just asking me would anger.. specially if they say no.
Brace it up for the weekend... :-)
i just might Amber.. i just might.
