#Ulog entry: Nigeria is(was) the giant of Africa( Reflecting on the sorry state of Nigeria)

in #ulog7 years ago (edited)

Africa is the second largest continent in the world and naturally with all the natural resources and talents deposited in Africa, We still have a lot of backwardness in most of countries. Kodeblacc is from Nigeria so I can speak exclusively as a Nigerian.
This is my #Ulog entry for today. It seems like a really weird #Ulog. Today aside my usual duties at the studio(photography studio) I had time to reflect deeply on the gory state of my country(Nigeria). When I was a kid, we were told Nigeria was the giant of Africa. Maybe then it truly was because amongst all other African countries Nigeria was prominent in virtually all facets of activities ranging from culture to economy, that can't be said today anymore with raising eyebrows of negative feedbacks. Nigeria has lost it's essence, it's sauce, it's integrity. Nigeria is now at the top of the list of major vices in not only Africa but the world at large.

I swung into deep thoughts when I went out to engage in my current obsession I call "waka-waka photography". It involves me walking around different environments and just snapping pictures of the scenery with my mobile phone. Today I walked around a neighborhood I normally pass through to get somewhere(undisclosed). The sight of the scene got me emotionally pained. I saw children running around in dirty pants, looking malnourished, uneducated. I lack words to describe the state of these children. The scene may cause different reactions, some will look at it from the angle that it is not wealth that brings happiness. Yes the children looked happy but it doesn't take away the fact that they are also hungry and suffering. We sang this song in our morning assemblies as kids "Children are the leaders of tomorrow" It is sad to see that the children that'll lead tomorrow are suffering today. Aside the children, I saw a lot of other things that caused me to be sober. In Nigeria the hustle is real, there's no rest, everyone wants to earn a living either by hook or by crook, this has led youths into vices like Internet Fraud called "Yahoo Yahoo" It has even graduated to rituals. Nigeria is no longer safe for an average Nigerian. Things are getting worse by the day, **The Government" so called is confused and the ones not confused are corrupt. On the bright side though while things seem to be getting worse, we can take refuge in the assurance that there are a few good people striving to make Nigeria a better place.

@surpassinggoogle, I hope you really get to read this and not just drop an upvote. It's true you are generous and your magnanimity must have been tasted by almost everyone on the steem blockchain. But a lot more can be done. In Nigeria there are so many illiterates out here who haven't ever heard of the word blockchain and even if they may have heard it, they don't understand. So while your kindness is shown on the steem blockchain, let it go beyond the blockchain, let it be so physical that Nigeria is literally touched by the well of kindness that resides in your spirit. I maybe assuming right now that you are not currently doing this. If you are, may Jehovah richly bless you more than you could ever think or imagine.

Oops!!!!, sorry for that break in transmission.

Still reminiscing on the sorry state of my country I was pulled out of my thoughts when prospective clients came by the studio for photographs.
It's been a while I went out for an outdoor photography session and I had the opportunity to do that today.

This is just a portion of the vicinity I could reach. There are over hundred of places like this in Delta State. Think about the whole of Nigeria.

That's my weird voice in the background. My Boss on Chelsea jersey and our beautiful client.

This sums up my day today. Overall it was a good day.

I hope this post doesn't just get an upvote but stir up a desire in your heart sir @surpassinggoogle to actually come back to your roots and do something(If you are not already doing that). There's a lot I want to do to reach out and help these people than snap photographs of them. I'm not the President of Nigeria, I'm just one kodeblacc, without the resources to do the things I'd ideally want to do. So I'm using this medium to reach out to all the whales out here on steemit @surpassinggoogle, @dimimp, @surfyogi @jerrybanfield @donkeypong, @damarth, and everyone out there with the potential to help.

This is not a plea for an upvote or to be sent steem or SBD. This is a call to awaken the kindness that resides in everyone, let your wealth not be constrained to your personal surrounding.

A man's wealth is truly not in the value of things he possesses but by how many lives are touched and affected positively by his riches.

Let the sun not go down with any child going hungry.
This is not rocket science, it can be achieved easily with the combination of hands and this begins with a KODEBLACC.
Total payouts from this post will be used to put food on the tables of every needy Nigerian child I can find and how long the resources can go.

Thanks for reading my #Ulog
