The Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) asks prisoners and escaped prisoners to report. Kemenkumham gave them time until Thursday (4/10) to be outside Palu Prison or Donggala Detention Center.
"Because the conditions of Palu Prison and Donggala Detention Center were severely damaged, they were now given the opportunity to gather with their families until Thursday. However, they were obliged to report," Adek Kusmanto, Head of Public Relations at the Directorate General of Corrections, said when contacted by AFP on Monday (1/10/2018) night.
After the deadline, inmates who do not return will be considered fleeing. The Ministry of Law and Human Rights will coordinate with the police regarding this matter.
"Wanted. If you have not surrendered, you will run away, it has not given up. The reasons for that were sought first. Whether you died because of the earthquake victims or fled, the data is currently no fatalities from the inmates," Adek said.
The Ministry of Law and Human Rights will continue to place the prison in Palu residents. However, they will not be in their cells as usual.
"On Thursday, they have to go to Lapas, if they go to Palu Prison, because the infrastructure is damaged around 80 percent. It will be placed in the Palu Lapas yard in the form of a tent. Plan it like that," Adek said.
Meanwhile, Director General of National Security Sri Puguh Budi Utami said that his party had formed a task force team to organize conditions after the earthquake. In addition, ensuring the position and whereabouts of prisoners and detainees are blurred.
"We have formed a joint Task Force consisting of employees of the Directorate General of Corrections and Regional Offices. The task is to make arrangements after the earthquake, to collect data and search for prisoners who leave prisons and detention centers in collaboration with related parties," Sri said when confirmed separately.
Previously, Sri Puguh mentioned the total number of prisoners and detainees in Central Sulawesi was 3,320 people. Of that number, 1,795 of them were still behind bars, the rest were running away as many as 1,425 people.
