The Chairman of the Thousand Islands KNPI, Didi Setiadi admitted that he was disappointed with the Thousand Islands SDA policy that wanted to make a breakwater construction project on the three islands of Seribu Islands Regency settlement. The plan was for the project to be carried out on Untung Jawa Island, Tidung Island and Sebira Island.
"The tens of billions of projects are not in accordance with the governor's campaign promises yesterday, this is a failed project. There is little benefit and the Jakarta Bay reclamation derivative project," Didi said when confirmed on Tuesday (9/18).
According to Didi, other than not in accordance with the governor's promise during yesterday's campaign. This project has killed corals on the sea floor.
"The construction of the project is careless. Declining material to the seabed makes coral damaged. I have a photo of underwater. The coral is damaged. If the coral is damaged, then what is left?" Didi explained.
Didi admitted that he was surprised that a project that damaged the environment like this could pass from the supervision of the Governor Team to Accelerate Development (TGUPP).
"The Governor has made a Team of Governors for the Acceleration of Development (TGUPP) management of a thousand coastal and archipelagic islands. These are the times, which are damaging to the environment and not according to the campaign's promise to pass through supervision," he said.
Even Didi was suspicious, the TGUPP Team had no benefit at all. "What is their work? They just have names or are there people but don't understand the island's problems?" continued Didi.
His side requested that the concreteisation project be stopped. The reason is, each island has been made a ring road whose function is also to inhibit the abrasion of sea water.
"The ring road that surrounds the island is enough to inhibit abrasion. Then you want to get the concrete again? It's useless. Waste of money," he said.
This USD 5,938,776 project will be more useful if used for the urgent needs of islanders. "The availability of clean water is still a problem for islanders. Some islands, consumption water feels salty. Then, the question of increasing tourism services is also an urgent need rather than sinking concrete into the sea," he said.
