ULOG #2. IN PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS #2: LeMoNAdeS!

in #ulog6 years ago (edited)

Lemons may not be the best-tasting member of the citrus family or of all fruits, but when you consider what benefits it has to offer, you may not totally dislike it after all. Lemons are a good source of antioxidants such as ascorbic acid, it is used to make different dishes and beverages. Yes, LEMONADES! The first beverage that would come to your mind is the lemonade.

We would get back to why lemonades are important to this post later. For now, lets consider what someone said.

Countless choices define our fate...
Each choice, each moment...
A ripple in the river of time.
Enough ripples and you change the tide
For the future is never truly set.

_Professor Charles Xavier.

Forgive me, I am a fan of the X-men.

The quote above got me thinking how the trivial choices we make in response to stimuli around us induce a cascade of ripples that affect the world at large. While life may not offer you happiness all of the time, how you react to what it gives to you means a lot to not only you or your future but to the people around you. Like I said in a previous post, try to find a balance and make the best out of it.

I learnt a lot from a post I made last week. I've been working on the article for quite a long time and I believed that asides the information I would be dishing out, the article would receive some attention. To my surprise, I was almost flagged/banned for the article. I was not just disappointed but I also got furious because I thought I had done nothing wrong.

My Reaction:

I was fortunate enough not to reply the comment too fast. More fortunately, I spoke to a patient (I work in a pharmacy, and I just met this distressed but kind patient for the first time) about how I felt after counselling him. He initially took sides with me but he later asked: "what if they are right?" I thanked him for his opinion and after he left, I considered deeply what he had said. I went back to my steemit post and thanked the curator then I delved into a research of what plagiarism really was.
Before that post, I thought plagiarism was just "not referencing who/where you got an information from". I didn't know to lift texts "word for word" even with proper referencing could count as plagiarism. I got to chat with some amazing individuals who taught me how to make better post after that. It could only get better!

Lemonades

Back to lemonades. Whatever you do to those little roundish lemons determines what you and maybe the world gets out of it. You may decide to throw it into the bin or toss it angrily at who gave it to you, or better still you make a lovely and chilled sweet-tasting LEMONADE from it. Trust me, lemonades are also better when shared. I keep thinking of what would have happened in an alternate earth, where I would have vented my disappointment, frustration and anger at the curator, and the cascade of events it would have caused.

We can make the world a happier place by morally choosing how we react to actions around us.

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

_Elbert Hubbard
