✒ULOG 20: Being a Child Again with these Toys!
SM Uptown is celebrating its Toy Fair 2018. This event will run until tomorrow, June 17 and is sponsored by SM CDO Toyzone. It includes toy displays, collectors’ meet-up, GunPla build-off contest, and plastic model building! SM Uptown by the way is located along the Masterson’s Avenue, Cagayan de Oro City.
If you are around Cagayan de Oro, you can just drop off this place and check out on some of the displays and even participate on one of the activities!
Events like this gets me feeling warmed up, not because I got to share something to you guys, but because it allows people to be engaged because of their mutual interest. It like going out for a picnic with the people you like and sharing your favorite food and snacks with them.
My brother should have taken part of this event because he is a collector. You know, he is a big fan of nendoroids and spent thousands of it. He specifically likes collecting Haikyuu nendoroids.
Anyhow, too much of introduction, are you excited to see them guys? Hop on in as it will really be like a roller coaster ride watching these epic toys! You can play Ed Sheeran’s Bibia Be Ye Ye for you to get hyped while reading this blog entry of mine.
Marvel Characters
In this Spiderman set, there are different spiderman characrers. I suppose the one near the glass is Miles Morales, a young Afro-Latin American, who debuted in Ultimate Fallout #4 after the death of Peter Parker. I also suppose that the women on this set is Spider-girl (red and yellow costume) and Spider-Woman (black costume with white accent).
I wanted to know more about the characters which were still on the glass but unfortunately I was not able to bring my glasses with me. I am a fan of Marvel though but not that much since instead of reading comics, I also get preoccupied with other stuff such as reading novels and watching documentaries. Haha!
These are also some of your favorite Avengers which were featured on the Infinity Wars! Can you name all of them? Well, I will try to recall some. Just please do not laugh at me.
Starting from the left is Hawkeye, Winter Soldier or also known as Buck, Vision can be seen on the top, Doctor Stranger (Stephen Strange), Scarlet Witch. We also have Loki the god of mischief, Thor my love, Captain America, Spiderman (Peter Parker) who unfortunately was taken with by Soul Stone 😯, Iron Man, two Black Panthers wearing different costumea made by his sister(Prince T'Challa), one of the loyal warriors Wakanda Michone (well, kidding aside I really forgot her name), and Hulk. And oh! We also have Deadpool although he is not yet a member of Marvel Cinematic Universe, but I do hope he becomes one!
And who would not know Tony Stark or also known as the Iron Man. On this collection, you could see the first Iron Man costume that he made on RDJ's first Iron Man movie.
I really like RDJ's character because he is way better than Christian Grey of 50 Shades of Grey. Playboy, billionaire genius, and was able to invent a lot of stuff! Who knows how good he could get in bed? Let us ask Pepper about that one!
Hulkbuster who should have been part of the set above is displayed on top. It is bigger than the usual toys. Now, it made me wonder how much does this one costs.
Aside from the Iron Man collectibles, on has been so hooked up in collecting different Captain America toys. These are all probably customes based not on the movie, but on the comics as well. I could not just confirm though whether or not it is made up of die cast because it is put inside the glass container/ glass display.
On this photo, you can see various toys as well. These are also Marvel characters.
I could not really identify the first guy from the left, but it looks kinda familiar. Anyhow, the character beside it is Mantis. I love how adorable she is in the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and Infinity Wars. And then there is Gamora, Draxx, the one who adopted Star Lord, Star Lord who by the way is one of the most annoying character for me in the Marvel Universe.
You can also see the agents of Shield including Nick Fury and then the Falcon. The Black Widow is also included in this set, Hawkeye, Spiderman, and then on the corner is Buck, the Winter Soldier.
We also have the Wasp, Antman, and other characters I could not name. Is that Daredevil on the corner?
On this corner, I could only name Ironman and Captain Marvel. Hopefully, Captain Marvel would be shown on the cinemas soon. I suppose some of these characters would be shown on future Marvel films. I cannot wait for that!
Russian superheroes are also displayed! The one with white star red shield can battle against Captain America as I could recall reading one comic on Booksale.
Dr. Strange here looks less of Benedict Cumberbatch. He looked more Asian. But actually on comic books, he looked a little bit of Asian or was it just my own eyes. Haha!
We cannot have our superheroes without the villains right? Here we have Hela, Thor's older sister. Thanos is also displayed too, including this ugly character whose name I forgot. Haha!
Marvel, DC and Star Wars?
My brother and I were about to burst our laughter when we noticed that different characters were set together on one corner. Anyhow, have you thought of cross over DC and Marvel films. That would really be awesome right?
Check out the other toys as well. I am sorry though if I cannot name them one by one since I only know Optimus Prime and Bumble Bee among the robots. Some casts and aircrafts from Star Wars can also be spotted!
Part of the toy show is this Bburago 118 La Ferrari Red which is one of Shell's Collection that was once sold. This is made of die cast which makes it more collectible. I really wanted to have one of this when it was sold but unfortunately it was so expensive for me and I was out of budget to have one.
GunPla Build-off
Like I mentioned awhile ago, the toy fest is not only displaying of collections, but with different activities. As seen on the photo above, toy collector are buying gundam collectibles ans are assembling them on this activity center. Or were these really gundam toys? What do yoy think?
For the next Toy Show, I would suggest that they would provide a bigger space for the displays. It would also be really nice and neat if speficic sets had been made. This would not just entertain the viewers/ mall-goers, but would also give a feel. With that, viewers can take good photos of the toys/collections without the images of the bystanders or owners of the toys sitting on the corner. Do you agree with me on that one?
