ULOG 915 - Weekly Thoughts - 20 Jul 20 - 26 Jul 20 - Homesteading This Week...
Good Morning, Steemians! :D
It’s been hot, humid and mostly dry here this week, but we did get a few small showers to help water our garden and stop our pond from drying out. :D Thankfully, we’ve also had some nice breezes to keep things bearable. :D
The frogs don’t seem to mind the low water in our pond at all, it’s the goldfish I worry about as I’m not sure how much they need to stay safe and healthy, hopefully we’ll never get so low in our pond that we find out. :D
Some of our garden beds are doing quite well in the warmth we’ve had this week, like these tomato plants. :D
The temperatures may have been a bit too warm for me, but the sunsets have been spectacular this week. :D This is a picture of Monday nights sunset here. :D
My favourite tree looking gorgeous as usual. :D
We discovered that there are four hummingbirds visiting our water not just the three that we’re here last year, like we thought. :D This is one of the three males coming in for a drink. :D He looks much bigger than he actually is in this shot. :D
This is another of the males. :D
Our handsome grand-puppy Shadow keeping an eye on me as I barbecued our supper. :D
Is it just me or does anyone else see a couple of eyeballs looking at them from the wispy clouds behind the trees in this shot from Tuesdays sunset? :D
The cows had fun moseying from pasture to pasture and trying to get some of the apples off the trees. :D
There has been a lot of napping going on here this week and not just by our handsome grand-puppies Tiny and Shadow and their beautiful sister Mya either, LOL. :D
One of the males leaving after grabbing a drink. :D
I’m going to make this picture of Thursdays sunset into a jigsaw puzzle in my Microsoft Jigsaw program. :D
We had another strange visitor to our garden this week. :D Anyone know what this is? :D
There was only one tomato on this plant on Monday but by Friday there were a lot more. :D
Butternut squash flowers are so bright and vibrant, it’ll be a shame to see them go, but the squash will be much appreciated by us and by our cows, they love them. :D
We had to run into town this week to get more hydraulic fluid for the backhoe and I managed to get this shot as we crossed the bridge on our way back out of town. :D
Just over half of our winter hay arrived this week. :D
My handsome husband covering the hay that we have so far while he waited for the chickens to head to bed. :D
Even with the heat this week and the wind beating up the plants, they are still doing quite well and we’re looking forward to getting some fresh from the garden food soon, especially the new potatoes that we’ll be able to harvest next week, yum. :D
Well that was our week here. How is/was yours? I hope you have had an awesome week! :D

This is awesome. I have always dreamed of living a life like this. I would like to own a farm someday 🙏
Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog, reading my post and making a comment. :D
I'm so glad you enjoyed it, thank you very much. :D I highly recommend having a farm/hobby farm/homestead. :D It is very therapeutic, lots of hard work and you'll never need to go to the gym again if you have one, the workouts you'll get mucking out stalls or chasing animals is great. :D LOL! :D Even if you could just get a few chickens to start, depending on where you live and laws there, it's so relaxing to just watch the chickens scratching for worms/grubs and walking around. :D If it wasn't for the mosquitoes, blackflies, noseeums and other insects that bother us while we're outside we'd spend hours just watching them and the cows moseying around. :D
If you really want one, you don't need a big plot of land to make it happen, a small homestead can be made on just an acre or two of land and is worth it. :D The relaxation and stress relief we feel every time we arrive home is fantastic and worth every sore muscle and mistake we've had/made over the years. :D
Welcome to Steemit! :D Hopefully you'll meet a good group of people on here and you'll have as great an experience as I've had with them all. :D
If you're looking for positive folks, I'd recommend checking out the #gratefulvibes and #innerblocks tags, there are a lot of great folks in those. :D
God bless you. :D Have an awesome day! :D
Yup, I definitely enjoyed your post. While reading it, I clearly imagined the happy life in a farm. It has always been my dream to live a simple life - away from the noise of cities.
I actually lived in the countryside when I was small before relocating to the city where I also currently live. I never forgot how beautiful my childhood was. As I get older, I realize more and more that life in a modern and fast-paced world is tiring.
I would love to go back to my old country life and seeing your post actually inspired me to start making it happen. Thank you!
I can't even imagine living back in a city, no matter if it was big or small, after living out here in the country. :D I find that I'm getting more and more reluctant to even go to town and I'd avoid it completely if possible, but until that happens we'll just go in once or twice a month for supplies we run out of or need for projects around here. :D
I'm glad that you're inspired to make getting back out into the country happen for yourself, it was the best decision we ever made for ourselves. :D
God bless you and help you make that inspiration into a reality soon. :D
Thanks a lot! Looking forward to your upcoming posts 😊
You're most welcome! :D
