#Ulog Day 29-The Product of my Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries: A proud Change Agent
Nature has given us an extraordinary substance that can give us a different kind of stimulation; a feeling that is pleasurable to the senses without producing edginess. The Pancil Association for Ecological Rehabilitation (PAFER ) produced guyabano and sambong powdered leaves as an alternative herbal medicine to treat illnesses. Guyabano has been known to fight cancer, diabetes, bacteria and has anti-inflammatory actions, on the other hand Sambong leaves are known for its Blumea camphor that is used as herbal medicine to treat kidney stones, wounds, rheumatism, anti-diarrhea, coughs and hypertension.
Drinking green powdered leaves throughout the day has a positive impact on virtually every system in the body, including the cardiovascular; circulatory; respiratory; nervous; lymphatic; immune; and musculoskeletal systems.
The processing of the herbal medicines is located in Brgy. Pacil, Malitbog So. Leyte in the Village Level Enhancement Processing Center.
One pack of powdered leaves costs P30. 140g/pack.
According to ARB’s most of their market is Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) which is concern on the health of the people living in the community.
Last July 1, 2015 on Southern Leyte’s 65th Anniversary PAFER has been awarded as Outstanding Farmer’s Association which was held on Sunkin Garden Capitol Site, Asuncion, Maasin City, So. Leyte and The Product itself ( Guyabano and Sambong Powdered Leaves ) as the Best Selling Product in BAHANDI TRADE FAIR which was conducted last September 1, 2015.
PAFER continues to inspire many especially to the household community.
As Julieanna Hever quoted ‘Let thy greens be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy greens’.
Hello Marie! This is very interesting! I have never heard of guyabano, we have a fruit called guanabana, which is anoni muricata. Do you know the latin name of this guyabano plant, because I am very interested in learning more!
Blessings to you and your community in this project!
