Ulog 14: Ignore Them and Shine!

Hello Steemians! Happy Tuesday!!

I read a post yesterday which slated using stereotypical subjects for your posts. It stated that you should avoid this subjects because they had been written-to-death, that everyone fell into the trap of writing about them – especially newbies.

These subjects were things like “happiness”, “grief”, “success”, “anger” and “change”. I must admit that having read this post, I stamped my foot quite hard and bumbled around my bedroom growling a little bit – this person had basically listed most of the subjects that I love to read about- that I enjoy writing posts about. Did this mean that I was a cliché?

Then it dawned on me. The reason that these subjects are so heavily covered is that they are at the heart of being human. They are in our universal settings. I think it would be fair to say that every human being will experience happiness, grief, success, anger, change and the rest at least once in their lives (or once an hour for some of them!) And of course we are going to write about them.

The main thing that got under my skin about this post was the fact that the author went on to state that unless “we had something new to say” about these clichés, it would be better if we chose another topic. Something more original.

What could be more new or original that YOU talking about how YOU experience these states and emotions? No one IN THE WORLD will experience them like you do, NO ONE IN THE WORLD will talk about them and unravel how to deal with them like you do. Because you are UNIQUE.

So, my friends, don't let anyone diminish your shine. When you are writing, recording or drawing your Ulogs, remember that you are the celebrity and we are your fans - tell us exactly what you want to tell us about. Disregard what other people think you should be talking about or writing about, and speak from your heart. No one will be able to tell us what you tell us, nor how you tell us. This is the beauty of @surpassinggoogle’s Ulogs.

Nothing is cliché. Nothing is stereotypical.

You are at the heart of Ulogs – and you are UNIQUE!

Until tomorrow, all my love.
Keep on ulogging along, Eveningart xx

Well said, my friend. It's very arrogant of anyone to think they know what others want or don't want to read. And yes, we are unique, and most people love to read personal stories because they can either relate to them or learn about human experiences they haven't had yet themselves. Both can be enriching, inspiring, educational and a whole lot of other positive things. Keep saying what's on your mind. I definitely love to read all of it :)

Thanks lovely- I had quite a lot of fun writing this rant-y little post! You're right, it was incredibly arrogant of them - and frankly, just plain wrong I thing. Yes, you do have to write it from the heart and not copy others's posts on these things- but personal stories are always unique.

Don't worry - I'll keep pouring my heart out! ;) Thanks for your fab comment.

haha! that author listed the posts which are the most popular ones and then tells you not to write about them! I think they wanted them for themselves.
I love this line.."I stamped my foot quite hard and bumbled around my bedroom growling a little bit " that's so funny!
you're great. God bless you and yours!

Thank you Janton! I know- it was a bit like, hang on, you've listed all key human traits on your banned list... what?!

I have discovered recently that I like a little growl - it's a good way to vent and make people laugh at you at the same time :)

lol! the growl makes you sound dangerous! you've probably seen photos of our German Shepard Jack because I keep including him in my posts? anyway he's the most gentle thing but if you start growling he doesn't like that and starts a low, gutteral, really mean sounding growl like he's getting ready to fight, he thinks he's being challenged and he doesn't like that, he's the Alpha dog around here. do you guys have a cat or dog or any pets? I don't know how common that is in England.

beautiful words and thoughts you just shared to make us realize once again why Ulogs are so powerful and how beautiful and smart YOU are.

Happy Tuesday

Aw thank you @snook, that's so lovely of you <3
It really got under my skin that someone was being so "you shouldn't do this" "you should only do this" "I know better" GAH!
Ahem. Happy Tuesday to you too :) Hope you have a wonderful day x
