ULOG #7: Remembering Tatay After A Year

This is a late post but still memorable. Hi friends, I would like to share with you about the 1st anniversary of Tatay. He is the father of hubby who is loving and caring to his children. I had met him in his ill condition. Sadly, I was not able to get to know him before his sickness started to settle in. From the stories of hubby and his siblings, Tatay was the best father they could ever have. Well, that is great because their memories of Tatay are good. I also feel the same with my father - the best person I could ever ask for as my parent.

Going back to the occasion, Tatay passed away last year of Sept. 3 (2017). Yes, we already are expecting the worst before his demise happened but it was still shocking and depressing altogether. I remembered I was still pregnant with my youngest child on that sad day. I received a call from hubby and he told me straight away that Tatay just passed away. I was totally shocked and don’t know what to do but shed tears while I am still at the office. I can’t leave just yet as there is no one to back me up and I am part of the frontline so I have to wait for the day to end. It was really unfortunate but I know it was his time to go back to heaven and be at peace. No more pain and sorrow.

My open letter to Tatay:

Dear Tatay,

How are you in heaven? I hope you’re happy and at peace there. I know we didn’t get the chance to be close and get to know each other (and this is one of my regrets) but I hope you will still think of me like a true daughter and the best person for your son to be with. It was a short time when we met. I want to share with you that Buchoy, your youngest apo (grandchild), is doing well. He is bigger than Margo because he eats so much, maybe 10x more than his Kuya. Very matakaw and active which makes us very happy. Buchoy got your eyes and looks like you. They say he had my chubbiness and nose, but his eyes and lips are yours. Sayang Tatay, you were not able to meet and cuddle him because you went to heaven already. But don’t worry, we are taking good care of him as well as his Kuya Margo and Ate Margareth.
