#ulog (125) The Low-end Ulogging Life -- Oct. 31, 2018
For Halloween, I actually made a non-gambling trip to the casino. My dad wanted to try out a certain sandwich at one of the casino's restaurants and needed my top-tier player's card (and physical presence) as an insurance policy to get to the front of the line of waiting customers if necessary (which it turned out to not be the case). The available promotion at the casino wasn't worth my time or effort, so I simply chose not to gamble. The arcade at the casino was running a "free video games all day" promo, so I decided to take advantage of that and play some Pac-Man [Battle Royale]. About 20 minutes in, I got bored and stopped. The main reason I chose this game was because there's a new casino version of Pac-Man that's expected to show up next year, and I wanted to get some practice in and try to figure out the ghost AI. Whether or not the casino Pac-Man will actually be worth playing, no one knows -- but it helps to be as prepared as possible.
As for the sandwich -- it turned out to be a Reuben sandwich plus fries, and the sandwich was tasty.
Before heading out to the casino, and after getting home from the casino, I did several trivia games. Unfortunately, all of them were oversaturated in pop culture/media and lacking in the general knowledge department -- and Google can only get you so far when you don't know the answers right away. So I was very surprised to pick up one of my better payouts on one of those quizzes. I was playing on the Hang Time app, and one contestant (not me) had the chance to win $250 or nothing, while everyone faced the same set of questions. With the single contestant failing to win, the pot was based on how far along the quiz got. That quiz ended up awarding $200 split between myself and 17 other survivors -- $11.11 apiece, not too shabby considering that these days most individual single-game wins across many of the trivia/quiz apps are worth less than $2.
(By the way, if you'd like to try out some of the trivia games on Hang Time, you can join using this URL on your iOS or Android mobile device: https://go.hangtime.co/RsFA77C6tR
That should take you to your local app store where you can download the app and register to play. I also go by "doughtaker" on Hang Time, so if I'm online there, I shouldn't be too difficult to find.)
The only other notable thing about my day was I figured out how to get Flash games to work offline in the latest version of Firefox. Having done so, I then downloaded a couple of my old favorite games so that when I have some spare time I can get around to playing them at my own leisurely pace.
And that was that for my Halloween. (Yeah, I didn't bother with any of the holiday festivities.)
