#Ulog : PREPARATION FOR OUR SCHOOL GARDEN
Department of Education has mandated that every school should have a vegetable garden or what we called "GULAYAN SA PAARALAN". This school year, Department of Education conducted a seminar regarding vegetable garden.
The speaker discussed the importance of having a vegetable garden in the school.
Here are the importance of having a vegetable garden in school:
- it gives beautification in the school.
*it helps students to become responsible in given tasks particularly in gardening.
*it gives fresh and organic vegetables to help in our school feeding program.
*it helps the malnourish students.
They also gave some tips how to start our school vegetable garden. They also taught us to make our home made insecticide that helps to kill the insects.
They also gave some vegetable seed for our school garden like squash, raddish, mustard, petchay, okra and tomato.
And today, with the help and participation of my students and head teacher, we started to make our own school vegetable garden.
We make sure that before we plant the seed, we assured that the soil is in good condition and it is perfect for the vegetable seeds.
After cleaning the area, we started planting the seeds, and everyone was enjoyed because they are excited for the result of that planting.
We assigned students by group to give maintenance in our school vegetable garden and we are excited to see the result and eat our harvest in the future. We want the best for our students and I know the most important reason for me why we have to make a garden is for them to become a productive and responsible students. We want also to encourage students to eat vegetables for their health.
"we will reap our harvest in the right time". And this is for our students.
Well done. Keep it up. God bless you.
