Brits are turning to independant candidates
Here are the results of two recent council by-elections:
Heckington Rural (North Kesteven) council by-election result:
CON: 33.7% (-26.9)
LIND: 29.2% (+29.2)
LDEM: 27.3% (+27.3)
LAB: 9.7% (-29.6)
LIND: Lincolnshire Independents
Valid votes cast: 1,262
Conservative HOLD.
Yaxley and Farcet (Cambridgeshire) council by-election result:
LDEM: 31.0% (+5.6)
CON: 28.6% (-28.3)
IND: 27.3% (+27.3)
LAB: 10.6% (-7.1)
GRN: 2.6% (+2.6)
Valid votes cast: 1,644
Liberal Democrat GAIN from Conservative.
I can't help wondering whether we shall see independent candidates do well in the general election too. If a lot of votes are siphoned off by them, it makes the election to difficult to call.
