13 years of Tory governments

This week marks 13 years of Conservatives in government in one form or another: the Conservative-LibDem govt of 2010-2015, Theresa May's minority government of 2017-2019. The Boris Johnson-Rishi Sunak majority government since 2019.

What have they achieved?

We've Brexited from the EU- that's a massive positive, as the EU is unstable and indebted and is likely to collapse.

Personal tax free allowance 2010: £6,475

Personal tax free allowance 2023: £12,570 (increased much faster than inflation)

Minimum wage 2010: £5.93 an hour

Minimum wage 2023: £10.42 an hour (increased much faster than inflation)

Top rate of tax 2010: 50%

Top rate of tax 2023: 45%

Also, unemployment July 2010: 7.8%

Unemployment March 2023: 3.9%

By contrast New Labour ran a massive majority government in the 13 years from 1997-2010. They "achieved" two massive wars costing over £200 billion, 100,000 dead, botched devolution which destabalised the union. Bank failures because that fool Gordon Brown removed oversight of banks from the Bank of England - Northern Rock, Alliance & Leicester, Bradford & Bingley, RBS, HBoS - so many bank failures under Labour! Plus the soaring unemployment at the end.

The 13 Tory years have been peaceful by comparison.
