Strangest Things - Office Party

Arriving to work on Monday morning, I discovered a nice little surprise on my desk: an invite to our company's anniversary celebration with the theme of Stranger Things.

For those of you who have never seen the show, the series takes place in a small town during the early 80's where a boy goes missing and his friends go in search of finding out where he went. Along the way, they discover a research lab that is behind some of the mysterious events that have taken place in their town and come to find that they may know why their friend has gone missing. Without giving too much away and to not reveal any spoilers, I won't say any more. However, if you don't want too much revealed about the series, don't read any further.

My office is full of people who love to watch Netflix original series and came up with a clever way to incorporate our company's culture with one of the most highly rated shows as of late. The event is Semi-formal with the option of dressing decked out in 80's fashionable attire or as a character from the show. Word around the office is some people are planning on coming as the heart crushing Steve Harrington, another as the savvy Sheriff Hopper, or even the heroic figure who we have all come to dearly love ... Bob.

The gifts left on my desk include the invitation in the form of a ferociously hand-drawn piece of the map with the back of the map replicating a torn out phone book page with the place of the event circled out. Alongside that came a D&D toy figure, The Archer, a master at ranged combat and a keychain that resembles the character Mike from Stranger Things.

Others around the office got differently drawn out pieces of the map, other D&D characters such as fighters, clerics, druids, rangers and more, and other keychains to look like Eleven, Dustin, and Lucas. And if you were a team lead, you were given a very special and custom made demogorgon that had been 3-d printed by one our very own coworkers.

I am super thrilled about this event and cannot wait to see all the wonderful outfits people will be wearing, along with piecing together our map to find out where it may lead us.
