RE: This Is Not A Safe Place For 90's Shoegaze Legends RIDE
Great review! When shoegaze was big, (that couple of months when 120 Minutes would play videos by play Ride and Lush and such), I was more into EBM and industrial and gothy stuff. (Front 242, A Split Second, Skinny Puppy, Severed Heads, Cabaret Voltaire, Legendary Pink Dots, Nitzer Ebb, Alien Sex Fiend...) But I did enjoy Charlatans and Stone Roses and Happy Mondays, [and Jesus and Mary Chain, of course, but they predate shoegaze by a few years], and I loved XTRMNTR when it came out... Might be time to revisit the source. Since the late '80s and early '90s, my listening palate has expanded significantly, and it sounds, from your description, like this new RIDE LP would be a welcome addition to the albums in my current musical rotation! I'll add it to my list! Thanks!

Ride, The Wonder Stuff, Stone Roses, Primal Scream, Happy Mondays, New Order, XTC, Inspiral Carpets....
As it turns out, Ride are touring here, and they're playing in Melbourne THURSDAY!!!!! How is that for synchronicity!??! Got my ticket and going to see them.... finally! After almost 30 years!!!
