“Ka deup nyo hancoe donyanyoe neunging keubit dengoen mata hate oh wareh e..
Oh wareh e..
Peu yang nyang ta pubuet ka rap bandum hannjeut keu but ateuh bumoe nyang ka dimoe oh wareh e..
Oh wareh e..
Peu jioh bala, peu jioh..
Peu jioh bala, peu jioh..
Bumoe..
Bumoe..
Jimoe ba-e..
Jimoe ba-e..” (bumoe dimoe ba-e, traditional aceh song from Rafli Kande)
A song that reminds us that the people of Aceh have long been in mourning, have long been dark and have long been dissolved in sadness. More than a decade ago where Aceh became a sea of tears, a sea of blood and sea of corpses strewn across the city's lanes. It was 26 December 2004 in Sunday morning, a day that the Acehnese would never forget even the people of the world though. Earth seuramo mecca (a nickname for the Aceh region because the first place Islam entered Indonesia) shaken an earthquake that caused a devastating tsunami in "rencong" (typical of Aceh weapons) Land.. The world is in an uproar, thousands of lives flying, children being orphaned, every corner of the city sounds weeping sounds in the accompaniment of an echoing ambulance, stretchers carrying bodies buried by sea water mixed with mud. The building was destroyed by a flood that broke the morning silence as the baby was still asleep in his mother's lap.

It is not only the Tsunami that makes "Nanggroe Seuramoe" (the name of the seuramo mecca in the aceh language) dark, the civil war between GAM (Free Aceh Movement) and the TNI (Indonesian National Army) also left a deep story for the people of Aceh. The women became widows, the children became alone, groaned hard every day. Houses, shops and even schools were destroyed by this civil war. However, the people of Aceh remained strong and believed that all would change and believe that Aceh would be peaceful.
Finally, the Tsunami that threw Aceh to stop this civil war. Peaceful words that in the dream finally materialize, the suffering has stopped, the tears are now changed smile and joking. Now Aceh has woke up and rose no longer wrestle in sadness. The people of Aceh believe that if the Tsunami only takes away lives and material, but the tsunami can not remove Rencong from this land, the tsunami can not drown the identity of the people of Aceh.
Now, Aceh is awakened from its dark sleep. The once-destroyed city of nowhere is now a magnificent, beautiful city, every corner of its city stands as though the tragedy has been forgotten.14 years, not a short time to rearrange life on earth Teuku Umar (national hero of Aceh).
However, as the rise of Aceh nowadays there are moral values that slowly fade away, the identity of the people began to disappear, Aceh began away from the word "seuramo mecca" which was hailed and proud of it. But the title was just mirage. In the past, every magrib came the reply of the children reading Al-Qura'n (the holy book of Islam) which was guided by his parents, every corner of the village was filled with recitation centers, a mosque filled with jama'ah gloved in white, women guarding his beautiful marriage decorated with hijab skirt sahaja cover aurat (designation for body parts that must be closed). Now, as time goes all it's just history.
Nowadays, the cleric is only known by name, every day young couple in pairs show off their aurat .remaja start to know free sex also use drugs, women lose their marwah (designation term for honor), every corner of villages become gambling shoot enlivened teenagers even children, even members of the council can not read Al-Quran. It this Aceh ? , Is this "nanggroe seuramoe mecca" ?, is this Acehnese identity, would we want a blind Aceh child to read the Qur'an?
14 years is not a time to forget the dark tragedy, but we must learn and improve ourselves. Should be given for the second time the disastrous disaster that we wake up again ?. Nothing too late if we together change it, rencong still belongs to Aceh, -the value of Islam remains the foundation of this nation's identity.

There was enough blood to flow, enough tears to drip, enough corpses lay. Now is the time for us to retest the Rapa'i (musical instruments struck from aceh) voice echo with us a new spirit for Aceh that is still going forward with the identity of its people. Also reinvigorate this national identity, do not let people know Aceh with the tsunami and also his brother's war. But, let's introduce and Aceh harmonize with the Islamic Shari'a, customs and culture. Make teuku Umar smile, Tjud Nyak Dien (national hero of Aceh) smile, sharpened Rencong show that Aceh is rising.
"Tsunami can eliminate wealth and life but not national identity, Aceh ..."
