President Trump stirred up a hornets nest among the liberal left this past week when he announced that the US was recognizing Jerusalem as the eternal capital city of Israel. This did not sit well with the powers that be around the world especially those who think that they control what is happening around the world. So whats the big deal? I mean the three past current presidents all made this a campaign promise but along comes Trump and he makes good on the promise that Obama, Bush, and Clinton didn't. Why? Well one reason could be the voter base for Trump which includes evangelicals who truly believe that Israel is God ordained as the rightful place for Jews and that the Jews are Gods chosen people and by doing what he did he has cemented their votes and probably their allegiance to him and his crusade to "drain the swamp". The other which seems more believable is that by doing this he has confirmed his dislike for Muslims and other enemies of Israel and is not afraid to stand behind his words in support of Israel.

Personally I think its a bad idea because even as a Christian I do not believe that the Israel of today is the same as the Israel of the Bible - in fact I believe that it is nothing more than what the majority of Islam is - a dangerous political ideology mascarading as a religion - Zionism is as dangerous to world peace as Islam is.

"From the start of political Zionism in the 1890s, Haredi leaders voiced objection to its secular orientation, and before the establishment of the State of Israel, the vast majority of Haredi Jews were opposed to Zionism. This was chiefly due to the concern that secular nationalism would replace the Jewish faith and the observance of religion, and the view that it was forbidden for the Jews to re-constitute Jewish rule in the Land of Israel before the arrival of the Messiah." And there are many scriptures that back up the Haredim view that Israel doesn't have any land anymore to re-constitute Jewish rule.

Contrary to the recent public belief the US is not the first country to recognize Jerusalem as the eternal capital of Israel - Russia did it in April of this year - all be it they recognized only west Jerusalem . So again why the big deal because Trump did it? Trump should have followed Russia's lead on this one but then again he has to do things his way - right?
