America Needs a King

It’s painfully obvious most Americans have zero idea what a republic is, what the Constitution means, and why the founders had good reason to separate the branches of government—to prevent what many of them apparently desire: an absolute ruler answerable to no one, an imperial president, a king.

If there is anything beneficial about social media, it is the ability to gauge what Americans believe about government and the state. If my feed is any indication, most Americans have little respect for liberty. Most believe government is here to do things for them and to prevent other people from doing things they disagree with. This is true of both liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans.

For instance, earlier today I posted a tweet objecting to Trump sending federal troops to the southern border states in response to an over-hyped “caravan” of Hondurans and Guatemalans making their way through Mexico to the US border. I said this is unconstitutional, the federal government does not have the authority to do this. It is not specified anywhere in the Constitution. Naturalization is, but not border protection. That is left to the states, along with a number of other things not spelled out in the Constitution. The Tenth Amendment says those things are to be left to the people, the individual states, to decide.

I was denounced as a “dumb ass” for saying this. I was told “my president” will do whatever it takes to stop these illegals from entering the country. I was told some of them are probably terrorists, others drug smugglers, and some even human traffickers.

Maybe. But if so, it is up to California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas to deal with it. It’s a law enforcement issue and the federal government has no authority over law enforcement in the states. It’s called Posse Comitatus.

But never mind. All of that was scraped decades ago. The Constitution is a relic. It’s not even talked about much on the Fourth of July, the day we celebrate the Declaration of Independence. Instead, that’s a day to get off work, blow off firecrackers, and eat hot dogs and drink beer.

Trump is the perfect king president. He has already signed numerous decrees. In fact, that’s how he rules because Congress won’t go along with him. He also has the arrogance of a king and this is displayed every time he appears in public. On occasion Trump strikes a pose that reminds me of Benito Mussolini—smug, self-assured arrogance.

MAGA supporters love it. He’s really dishing it out to the left and the deep state.

On the other side, there is seething anger over Trump—not because he’s imperial president, but because he’s not their imperial president handing down decrees on identity politics, trans-whateverism, white privilege, and punishing the conservatives, the paleocons, the faux libertarians, etc.

All of that’s coming once they get their king in there.

There are a few of us who understand the principles that made this country unique—natural rights, private property, and what it says in the Declaration: “that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness,” followed by a bill of particulars documenting “repeated injuries and usurpations,” many once again inflicted upon us, far too many of us too ignorant to realize.

Maybe Alexander Hamilton was right. America needs a king-for-life.

It sure seems a whole lot of my fellow citizens agree.
