The first indictment on criminal charges for a former President happened.
If paying a porn star to stay mum about a Trump tryst should be considered a campaign expense because it helped him politically...
Then clearly Alvin Bragg's indictment of Trump should be considered a campaign contribution, and one which uses state funds at that.
It's irritating to see news outlets saying things like "MAGA Republicans are categorizing this as a political prosecution".
No... Nearly everyone who is paying attention that doesn't hate Trump and many people who do are calling this a political prosecution.
I don't support Trump and I'm not a Republican, but... non-Republican independents that are following this are by and large with the Republicans on this one.
There's info we don't have yet on some of the specifics, but I would be really surprised, given what we do know, if there's any there there at all to justify it.
I see Trump's base as mostly populist, nationalist boomers who type in all caps and don't have a coherent worldview rather than hero worship, so I've got no interest in defending them.
But when they call this a witch hunt? They're very likely right, and their anger is justified.
