RE: The summit was just a little propaganda film.
No, but his twitter threats about nuclear warfare escalated the situation to the point where a meeting like this became necessary.

So Trump achieved exactly what he wanted to achieve with those crazy twitter threats? Funny how that works.
It depends on what Trump's goal was in the first place. I don't think he planned that far ahead.
Threatening to preemptively use nuclear weapons on a country that is obviously weaker is a serious problem. If this works out and peace is achieved, then history will probably say it was worth it. If this leads to war, it will be seen as escalatory rhetoric. It's too early to tell.
Trump has been saying for a while that he wanted to meet with Kim. This is all part of Trump's plan as were the threats to cancel the meeting. It's just old fashioned negotiation tricks that Trump is very open about employing. The funny part is how well it works. An essential part of Trumps strategy is for whoever he is dealing with to think just what you do, that he is stupid and crazy and has no idea what he is doing and that he might just launch a preemptive nuclear strike. That gives him the upper hand in negotiations.
