When you try to learn about Iran history, you hear Samarkand a lot of time! it was a part of ancient iranian realm back for many years. I guess their people are still speaking kind of Persian/Farsi. Samarkand is rich in history because it used to be on Silk Road and that is one reasons it was an important city. Even UNESCO added this city to the list of historical cities of all time.
