June 1st marks the beginning of the Atlantic hurricane season. In Sint Maarten/Saint Martin, an Island in the Caribbean, governed by the Dutch and the French, we were reminded today that we need to prepare for this season and be hurricane ready.
There was a system hanging over us that brought a lot of rain. Motorist were advised to stay of the road due to flooding of certain areas. Below you will find images of what happened today on our beloved tiny Island.

The names of this year's Atlantic tropical (and subtropical) storms are:
Arlene - Bret - Cindy - Dawn - Emily - Franklin - Gert - Harvey -
Irma - Jose - Katia - Lee - Maria - Nate - Ophelia - Philippe -
Rina - Sean - Tammy - Vince - Whitney.
