Tree Tuesday Celebrates with Flowers

There is no other way I would rather spend a #TreeTuesday anywhere but down at the Tidal Basin in Washington, DC... among the blossoming cherry trees. It was a little early this morning, so there isn't that bright and shiny sky, but, wait a minute or three and I will bring it on out!

Happy #TreeTueday initiated by @Old-Guy-Photos!! Let's see your trees!!

Closer up and a little bit more personal, I can see how delicate they are. Some have a slight perfume, but, for the most part, they don't really smell. Each spring, I look forward to the explosion of cherry blossoms. The best time to see them is during peak bloom, which is defined as when 70% of the Yoshino Cherry blossoms are opened up. Unfortunately, peak bloom is but a few days. It is so hard to predict as there are factors that change this date, beginning with the weather.

Japan gifted 3000 cherry trees to the United States to enhance the friendship between the two countries. Of the original gift of 3000 Japanese cherry trees, there are still some left, although many were grafted to continue the lineage. You can see one of the older trees here.

My eyes are indulged with blossoming trees, everywhere. Oh, Spring! I celebrate you! There is nothing more inspiring to this soul this the break-out-beautiful sight. Even my backyard is waving hello after the long winter nap.

Admittedly, the dogwood trees are one of my personal favorites. Maybe because I was born and raised in Connecticut and they were so abundantly present in the earliness of spring. I knew that spring has surely arrived when I saw them.

There isn't a flower on it, but, there is the everlasting green of my beautiful pines. Evergreen, ever loved by this girl. I can literally smell the spring and it is delicious! A mix of something light and something fresh.

A flower. There must always be a flower to color my world. This picture is dedicated to #TuesdayOrange #ColorChallenge by @Kalemandra.

Thank you for visiting my post 💖 Because of you, I come back to post again and again, I am encouraged by you, for the time you take to visit, comment or even upvote. For all of these reasons, I am eternally grateful. Don't ever forget what a wonderful world we live in, people. Let's hold hands around the globe and make this earth really spin. Some days, it is not as easy to see, how wonderful it really is. Kindness counts. Wherever you go, whatever you do.

I always post this poem down at the bottom of my posts. It is one that has become so near and dear to my heart. I only post the most famous part of it, but, wanted to post it in its entirety today.

they set my aunts house on fire
i cried the way women on tv do
folding at the middle
like a five pound note.
i called the boy who use to love me
tried to ‘okay’ my voice
i said hello
he said warsan, what’s wrong, what’s happened?

i’ve been praying,
and these are what my prayers look like;
dear god
i come from two countries
one is thirsty
the other is on fire
both need water.

later that night
i held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered,
"where does it hurt?"
it answered,

"everywhere"
"everywhere"
"everywhere"

Oh what a delight to be able to bask in the overwhelming beauty of the Tidal Basin! I have not had the pleasure of seeing the blooms in person, so I appreciate you taking me virtually!

I love that old gnarly trunk one. You just know that tree has grit. Think of all the time that has went by and he is still a survivor, doing his thing, and making a proper show of it all!

Yes the pines are always a favorite of mine. So stately looking and they smell divine! Just beautiful!
Splendid post as always, Princess!

You leave such kind words in your comments. Thank you! Oh, I have a feeling that when you move to Virginia, you will be making your way to the Tidal Basin to catch the Sakura Cherry Trees in person! They really are quite a sight the first time you see them!

And surprise! There are so many gnarly trunks, you will be tired of them! They are real survivors! Yes! And I am like you that way, with the pines. I just love the smell of the pine forest. I would plant a whole yard of them if I didn't need those cherry trees too!

Thank you and thank you always for the Upvotes and Resteems.

Thank you for taking us there. I always thought I would one day see the cherry blossoms myself but I haven't gotten there yet. Sounds like the first of April is consistantly the time. I'll make a note.

Oh, you ain't dead yet! That is what I say to myself. :)

They do seem to like April, although last year it came early and it was over before the festival began! Unfair! Right??

For the most part, it works out that the festival falls in between the blooms. They also have a Kite Festival to go along with it and a big parade at the end. You must catch the whole show. :) Thank you for the lovely comment always and for your support and friendship.

I didn't realize there were these other events happening at the same time. I may have to put it at the top of my list.

They do have all these events and more actually! It takes place in the span of a couple weeks so I guess saying that they have them at the same time is a little misleading. It seems like the same time because I live right here and kind of enjoy having something special for several weekends in a row. Having said that oh, there's always a lot to do in between all this. You probably already know this but everything is so very free to visit here, except for the private museums. All of the art galleries in smithsonian's and everything, including the Library of Congress in the Capitol building, all free to get in and a lot of fun to learn about. They all have some Wicked history behind them. Thank you for stopping by and as always for the generous vote that you always give!

No, really don't know much about DC and that it is free. I've read about the traffic aggravation. If I get there I would like to rent a bike to help in getting around if it's not to dangerous. I do know that during the Labor Day weekend there is a large gathering of African drummers and dancers that hold classes during that long weekend and a show on Saturday night.

Interesting. Yes, they have the rental bikes all over the city, but, a good part of it is walkable and the Metro is readily available as is Uber for further reaching places.

I don't find the traffic aggravating, but, I am never in a huge rush, and alway leave on time. People leave with extra time and then get rushed and aggravated when things slow down, causing more delays by their cutting in.

I have never felt threatened in the least. Well once, a long, long time ago and the first time I lived here. I went into a druggie area which was well known and it is actually far from downtown. :) But, I was just intimidated, nobody threatened me.

Anyway, I am considering going to this here Not sure yet, but, it looks like it would be fun.

The best part of DC is that there is so much to do here. And it's free. Where will they be meeting? Is it attached to the National Museum of African American History and Culture?

Here is last years information about that specific weekend. It's called the Kankouran.
http://kankouran.org/conference/

I see they offer dance and drumming classes throughout the year too.
http://www.kankouran.info/Dance-Instruction-Washington-DC.html

Yes. I am familiar with this. I didn't think this was it as the classes are all year.

Thank you!

that sounds like a place I would love to visit, especially at this time of year with all those gorgeous fresh blossoms, as always a post that is such a pleasure to visit

You would absolutely love it! I was thinking of you as I was at the Kite Festival, knowing this is a place you need to visit someday when you are gracefully unemployed. If that ever happens!

If I have early arrived in the city, I like to peruse the Tidal Basin as it is always beautiful.

I know another place that is worth a visit to you. It is called Longwood Gardens and it is right outside of Philadelphia. It is a massive place worthy of an overnight. Check it out here I think you will love it!!! In some ways, it reminds me of the Keukenhof! Every season, they decorate it a new way!

Thanks for stopping by and the always awesome comments.

!tip

I sure hope to visit there one day to experience it for myself :)
the tidal basin after this post it is now a place I have to visit and thanks for the link another place I would love to visit and added to my wishlist of places to visit

As an aside, everything (practically) that you visit in DC is free. All the museums (except for a couple privately owned ones) and you can get a privately escorted trip through the Capitol Building and The Library of Congress too...

It is a vacationers paradise!

Yes!!! Longwood is worth the visit. Be ready to take thousands of pictures! I love it at Christmas and I cannot believe I have never posted anything from there!!!!!

I didnt know that the times I have visited there have primarily been for meetings with Vendors years ago, i must do a vacation visit there sometime for sure
I think one of Jeannes and marks friends lives not to far from Longwood and mentioned it to me once I must visit there sometime as well

Oh, wow! That is too bad about being here and not taking advantage. That is probably the best thing about living here is the free aspect of everything and yes! You do need to go to Longwood.

You will never be the same afterword. The entry fee is kind of steep, I think... but, it is worth every penny.

Yeah but it’s nit that far so should be able to visit there sometime i. The future when I will have plenty of time to see it all 👍😎👍

Won't that be wonderful? You won't know what to do with yourself!! :)

Atill. It will be fun to gave endleas time!

Second photo of the old gnarled tree with a head in the clouds of powder pink blooms what a great share Denise.

Never seen a Cherry Tree never knew the Japanese/American history either, this made for interesting reading.

Oh, doesn't that have personality!! :)

A lot of the older trees get very snarled up. I have no idea why but honestly they are interesting looking. I had no idea you didn't have cherry trees there, but, I am glad that I could share a piece of history with you!

Thank you for stopping by, Joan @joanstewart xo

A superb #treetuesday offering, Denise. We are having our first cherry blossom bloom in Vancouver too. There are two dominant strings of cherry here though and we get a second blast of pink later. Nature is so generous, just like your artistic spirit:):):)

How exciting, Pryde! @prydefoltz We have two also, but, for the same reason, I bought two different cherry trees for my yard. One is a late bloomer so the color and blooms seem to last longer.

Nature is a generous giver, isn't she? And your words are too!

Thank you always for such kind words and the visit! I hope all is well in your world and I raise my glass to a great year ahead.

So beautiful. Do you get allergies to the trees all in bloom?

Oh! Thank you so much for the wonderful upvote and resteem. I don't get allergies and I suppose I should count my blessings.

So many people are miserable right now. I hope you are not one of them!

I never get tired of seeing the Cherry Blossoms. What is not to love ?

Dogwoods..... every day I am looking at the one in my yard to see how the buds are coming along. Bigger and bigger they are becoming. Can't wait till they pop open.

Lovely post. (( hugs ))

Thank you. Truly. xoxo

Oh, the blooms are simply delicious, aren't they? Truth! What is not to love. Nothing, as far as I am concerned. When I first moved here, I loved the Tidal Basin in the Spring and bought a Cherry Tree. It was so beautiful, the next year, I bought another. They bloom at different times, so I get to have my Cherry Blossoms all spring.

Score!

Oh, I do love the dogwoods. I have the Chinese Dogwood (the pink one) and the regular white one, which I grew up with those kinds. I love them too.

I am still waiting on most of the dogwoods. I can't wait either! Spring has sprung!

Oh my ! Thanks a bunch !

Hehe! You are always welcome!

We had flurries this weekend but I have to admit I think today got into the 60s. Im ready for a warm sunny weekend as we havent had one of those yet and looking forward to the blooming flowers that are hopefully around the corner.

Posted using Partiko Android

You win!!!

Even flurries at this time of year are unwelcome in my book! This weekend, we will all get something akin to spring and I believe that will be the end of winter for all. Well, we can all hope and I am pretty sure I am right.

My Alexa told me.

Oh, the flowers are just around the corner and I just know that I will be seeing you posting a few on your posts, right?? I will be able to smell them- ten states away. I hope you have a fabulous rest of your week!
