NYC Girl Takes Over Barcelona!!

A New York City Girl takes over Barcelona Spain in 3 nights.

The whole idea of going to Spain was to be able to backpack around for a couple nights. From Barcelona, to Madrid, and then Ibiza. Welp, that didn’t go as planned but I’ll tell you this much, nothing to regret!! I had the time of my life in just Barcelona for 3 night/4 days.

The capital of Spain is absolutely beautiful! If you’re looking for an adventure with a purpose, you HAVE to check out Barcelona. It’s mostly known for it’s art and architecture. There’s so much to see and do. Everyone is so friendly too. I’ll tell you this much, the food is to die for! Especially the paella. What’s awesome about Barcelona is that there’s train transportation and bus, so it’s really easy to get around the city! Have I mentioned it’s super affordable too? Their native languages are Spanish and Catalonia, but you’ll definitely run into people who speak English.

My trip to Barcelona was in October 2016. I went with 2 of my best pals! We stood at Sant Jordi Hostel Rock Palace which was very affordable and in a great location! We literally went with just backpacks, as we planned to stay for only 3 nights that we were off from work for.

The first day we arrived in the morning and took a bus straight to Palau Nacional, an Art Museum. We had breakfast a few blocks from it for about €8. After touring the beautiful museum, we made our way to our hostel. We got ready and went out for food. I’m used to having dinner around 5-7pm. In Spain, La Cena (dinner) is usually between 8-11pm. Although Spaniards are really big on Tapas (little bites’ snacks) which I included in the video above. On our way to find something in the nearby area to eat, we ran into the Gaudi House Museum, and Gothic Quarter. When we got back to the hostel we made a lot of friends and decided to go out with them for nightlife. What a great night, on a MONDAY!

The next days there we did a lot of sightseeing! We visited the infamous landmark Sagrada Familia Cathedral, which is still being worked on and is the largest Roman Catholic Church in the world. It is said to finish being constructed in 2026. We visited the popular public park Park Güell. The sight there is truly enchanting! The Arc de Triomf was also a landmark we toured. The aquarium of Barcelona was an area we walked passed as well, being that we walked to many of these tour sites because they were about 20-40 minute walks from each other. There’s the option of renting bikes for a low amount of Euros depending on timing but we decided to walk. Although the Agbar Tower was such a pleasant view. It’s one of the most recently built attractions/skyscrapers and most visited icons.

One of our last tours was at the Sant Pau Hospital. This isn’t your typical hospital though, it occupies several blocks and it’s known for its amazing detail and architect built in the medieval times.

A lot of the tour sites we visited were all constructed by the same Architect, Antoni Gaudi. He is very well respected in Spain for his beautiful architecture buildings and projects.

If you’re looking to relax on a beach, coffee shop, restaurant, or just in the outdoors in a park somewhere, I’m telling you, Barcelona is a must. Or if you’re looking for adventure, nightlife, exploring, and an easy way around with friendly people, please visit. It’s is a phenomenal City. I definitely plan to visit again and explore even more.
