Solobackpacking in Baltic’s from Finland - Part 2

in #traveller6 years ago (edited)

So I arrived Tallinn on time without any delays . The landscape was so beautiful . I thought I’m middle of nowhere 😯. Sometimes it felt good , othertimes it was bit freaky due to cloudy weather 👀⚠️

So I had good lunch, exploring streets. I St.Olaf’s church , is believed to have been built in the 12th century and have been the centre for old Tallinn’s Scandinavian community before Denmark conquered Tallinn in 1219.

Entrance to the church is free but it costs couple of euros to climb to the top of the tower. It is possible the most challenging tower climb I’ve done :D . There are 258 steps but going up the stairs of the tower is a tight fit in a narrow passage with two way traffic. It’s steep and slippery , and there’s a rope to hold onto while climbing(without falling down :o)

Not a big fan of church but if you’re not going up the tower , it is not worth. It is so small anyways nevertheless it has a spectacular view.

There are many of these open markets mostly in the city centre . They not okay price (neither expensive nor cheap). So finally I booked tickets to vilnius once I thought I would take a rest in the bus for the night so that I won’t waste much time .3A37718C-4A17-4B81-A10F-54E0BB218AF0.jpeg

So I had a huge dinner while waiting for the bus to Vilnius. Will share more pictures from Tallinn in my next post :D

Baltic’s are fun to visit, I find it reasonable (may be a bit cheaper too)

This looks really nice. At the first glance not very different from Central-Eastern Europe, like Czech Republic or Hungary

Yes that’s true though, I felt the same when I was visiting Czech . Can’t wait to visit Western Europe . So have you visited any of the baltic countries ?

Never, it was too far for me :(

Its never too far though now a days :D ;)

I suppose comparing a Baltic state to the Czech rep. is one thing, as long as you never call a Czech a Pole, is what my Czech friend impressed upon me.
Quite possibly, I think the same might go if you comapre a Baltic state to a formerly occupying Slavic one.. and Hungary seems a bit far away from Estonia! For the rest the culture, I don't think, has an awful lot in common...but I look forward to more of your travel log to prove me wrong. I would rather think there might be a bit of a Scandanavian feel to the Baltic lands. But you haven't found that at all, have you?
In any case, it's all pretty as a postcard!

I just made a post about this! @sukhasanasister linked me here. Sounds like you came out of it with an equally enthusiastic view of the city :)
