Mount Merapi is active in the middle of Bandung, which is a descendant of ancient Sundanese Mountain
Bandung is a basin area originating from the ancient lake of Bandung. This ancient lake dried up and then turned into land. This is what causes Bandung to become a city on a low land surrounded by many mountains. This place, nicknamed the land of Parahiangan, has very cool temperatures which are comfortable to live in. The active Mount Merapi is Mount Tangkuban Perahu. Mountain which has a shape like a boat that faced down has a height of 2,084 meters. The smoke that is still billowing in the crater of the mountain and the sulfur air that smells very thick shows that the mountain which is one of the attractions in Bandung is Mount Merapi which is still active. Tangkuban Perahu is a mountain that originated from ancient Sunda Mountain which erupted in the past. The formation of Tangkuban Perahu Mountain occurred in several stages. The first stage was when the Mount Jaya Giri eruption formed the Caldera which became the forerunner of Ancient Sunda Mountain. The second stage is when the ancient Sunda volcano erupts which then re-forms the Caldera. From this Caldera, Tangkuban Perahu Mountain appears as it is today. The formation of Mount Tangkuban Perahu reminds us of the history of the formation of Mount Krakatau.
Tangkuban Perahu Mountain is an active Merapi mountain, the rest of ancient Sunda Mountain or Jaya Giri Mountain which can explode at any time. Time bombs in the middle of Bandung, the public must be vigilant even though they should not always be feared.
