The ultimate Phi Phi Island wanderlust story | 🌊 Beach vibes | SEA-SAND-SUN 🌞
Woohoooo ! What is up Steeminions :)
Friends came to visit then bamn! They turned into Steeminions :D
Just last week, I had friends from the US came to visit Thailand so I invited them to come stay together at my apartment during their journey in Bangkok. @wallawallabree (Bri) @hotboxtheplanet (Carlos) and @nicholiss (Nicky)
I invited them to join Steemit also and good timing it’s the time we’re planning on the Steemian meetup in Bangkok so they even understood the platforms even more than when I try to explain.. Here’s the post of it + A FUN BUBBLY VLOG if you’d like to check it out, of course.
Bangkok to Phuket !
We went down south together and the idea was to do some island hopping around Phuket and Krabi. We got a pretty cheap flight ticket from Bangkok to Phuket, like, less than 700 THB = $22 for an hour flight.
Flew with Thai lion air. The airline allowed maximum 10kg. Luggage to be loaded under the plane at no additional cost. Guess what, I managed to get the cabin crew to said ‘What’s up DTube!’ They’re just to kind ❤ See how cute they are
When we arrived (around 2 am) then tried to find some transportation to take us to the city. Damnnnn! We had no idea Phuket was that expensive! It costed us 800 THB to get to a guesthouse. I know, it wouldn’t sound too pricey for you but in Thailand, you could live 2 days of that amount of money.
My friends booked the guesthouse close to Patong Beach which was pretty much a party area and the beach was not so pretty. We decided to leave after 2 nights to Phi Phi Island.
Though, at the meantime, we walked around and check out some spots and the one I liked the most was a night market across the street from Jungceylon shopping mall. Soooooo much food !
Phuket to Phi Phi Island.
Here we go on the way from Phuket to Phi Phi Island on a ferry. Watch my journey on Thai Titanic
The ferry had pretty much 3 levels and each level costed different prices. We paid 500 THB including the taxi from the city to town. It was a 2 hours ferry ride and didn’t get too boring as on the way they would stop for a bit close to some sightseeing and explain what they are.
They also had bars on each floor. The toilets are big like the ones in the shopping malls or something. Couldn’t complain.
Phi Phi Island !!!
ACCOMMODATIONS
One of the most well-known / most popular destinations for tourists both Thais and foreigners. Once we got to Koh Phi Phi, tons of tons of locals were already there waiting to sell stuffs. Hotels, transportation, tours and other things. Funny story (Not really), there’s a lady came to speak to us ‘You’ve already booked a hotel?’ We said ‘No’ so she kept following like, half an hour or something.
Bri, Carlos and Nicky traveled on a really tight budget so we tried to find the cheapest accommodation possible.
The lady : “I could get you 1,500 THB”
Me : “They didn’t even wanna pay 1,200 THB for this one (the hotel we were hanging around)”
The lady : “Bye then (Super cold)” and walked away right away..
Damnnnn dude! Manner! I got stunned by the behavior and I’m Thai! What would foreigners think.
Well, after that we found ‘Coco Guesthouse’ , stay for a night then leave again to ‘Papaya Guesthouse’ which we’re not too happy with it either LOLOL we’re too picky!!! For real.
When my friend left, I went stay at 2 hostels.
Apache Hostel (300 THB per night) : A party hostel just right on the beach! Stay here you’ll also get discount on drinks at its bar at night. Best part of staying here, they have FIRE SHOW every night at 8.30 pm. I loved it! (Link in Art section ;) )
Chaokoh Dorm Room (320 THB per night) and luckily they’re renovating the dorm so they sent all guest to stay in a private bungalow with 3 beds in it. That was so nice! They offered fire shows every night as well at 9.30 pm. I didn’t get to see as that night it was raining but a local told me that it’s even better than the Apache’s one. So I believe it would be a super duper !
FOOD
Helllllllllllll. Well, I actually have to admit that it’s on the island and they need to ship everything from the land that’s why all the food is 2-3x the normal price so be prepared!
Places offer a lot of well-known Thai food like, Thai curries, Pad Thai, Seafood, etc. American food is also available like, burger, pizza and pasta.
I love the place called ‘Harmony’ and ‘Garlic’. Not just having such a great taste but they sell it at reasonable prices. Plus++ their service is superrrr! By that I mean, island price.
I actually ordered the plate called 'Pad Thai' but with the type of thick egg noodle. Trust me, order the normal one! LOLOL hahaha
They offer buckets of alcoholic drinks..
Roti (Thai Pancake) and Ice-cream rolls
These are probably the types of dessert/snacks they love so much on the island. I know know why but I did try the ice-cream rolls. Though, it doesn't have to be on the island to eat those 2 as they're sold all over Thailand.
If you don't live in Thailand or haven't come visit, you probably will find this ice-cream they make it fresh from scratch very very in teresting. I have it a short video showing the whole process when they made my cup. Watch here
**Phi Phi eating tips:
- Every Friday-Saturday, there's a local street food night market at the Ton-Sai pier. Most of the people I saw there were locals so that's the sign 'It's good!'.
Luckily I was there on both Friday and Saturday. Went there by myself as all friends were sick (Food poisoning) Good for them, now they can say that 'They've been to Thailand'
I got the bowl of 'Yum Ruam Mit (Spicy salad with all they got in there)' (80 THB)
- There's one local grocery store, the only shop cheaper than 7/11 I discovered. Ask around, locals will show you where ;)
COFFEE
Coffee shops for me are a must! As I work on my laptop and being in the small bedroom most of the time made me real desperate so here's the one I found I could totally go visit again if I make it to Phi Phi Island in the future. 'Capulatte'
They're so welcoming and the coffee were great! I loved their mocha so freaking much. Also they're cusious about my vlog and did scan my DTube scannable t-shirt so there's a little bias here, I believe LOL
Another place that you wouldn't miss after you get to the island is the cafe called 'Phi Phi Bakery' as they're located so close to Ton-Sai pier. They have very good bread, dessert, drinks and prices are so affordable compared to others.
I got Nutella-peanut butter frappe (80 THB) and a cinnamon roll (30 THB). Sooooo good. Just writing this blog and see the pictures of them, I actually feel like eating a cinnamon roll so bad :D haha LOL
BEACHES
To be honest with you here, Phi Phi probably not a place you would fall in love with if you really imagine Thai beaches with the clear blue water. I was disappointed once I first saw its beaches but wait, there're so many beaches around there and they are all different.
'Mama Beach' is not so bad if you don't feel like walking for a bit to the best one 'Long Beach'. It took me more than half an hour just to go check out the beach so that was actually my first and last time for this visit :D Though, I would totall recommend you all to check it out as it's pretty and much quieter than the others. People just couldn't be bothered walking.
On our way walking to Long beach with @wallawallabree and @hotboxtheplanet
At Long beach..
On the way back I saw this indy bar with a really cute sign 'No wifi - Free hug - No A/C' Loved it.
ISLAND HOPPING
Beaches on the island are not too bad if you're not so picky. If you'd like to make the most out of your travel around Koh Phi Phi, I really really really recommend taking a boat trip and go on an Island hopping journey. We managed to get a boat 4 hours for 4 of us (1800 THB) Visited 4-5 islands, bays, lagoon.
The most exotic thing I found was a the monkey beach. One more time, MONKEY BEACH, beach with monkeys!
Check all this awesome boat ride with all the ocean vibes plus monkey, watch here :)
ART ON THE ISLAND
Soooo many types of art all around the islands. 3 things I would love to feature as I have them filmed special just for my channel.
1. Bamboo Tattoo
The unique type of tattooing using a handmade method. Pretty famous among foreigners who come to travel in Thailand so here you go, Watch real bloody video!
2. Fire show
This was the one I mentioned earlier on the 'Accommodation' topic. I was so damn lucky booking the room stupidly with knowing that it's a party hostel. Turned out, best decision ever! Watch this and you'll see why ! :D
3. Glass blowing
This one is also really special as @hotboxtheplanet a friend who went together. He's so into this glass blowing thing and he even has his own shop so how awesome it would get when he got invited by the local to show off his skill Check the video out
Just a little more if you're in to boxing at all. You know, THAI BOXING! (MUAY THAI)
They have the fight show every night. Not a serious fight fight fight but pretty much just for a free bucket of drink LOL Short clip on Dlive
Final thought :
- It's pretty sweet in term of how small the area is and you could just walk anywhere.
- Expensive as fuckkkk so I'm not too sure if you'd like to come visit if you travel on a budget.
- It's for sure good if you like partying.
- I would go back just for that island hopping tour but I would totally like to go check out somewhere I've never been first - So..? Not going back anytime soon :P
Lots of lots of love,
Mo ❤
wow, good post and amazing trip :)
awesome
the transportation cost in pattaya is bad too! a 5 minutes journey by motorsai cost 100 baht!
Don't like that.
wow $ 80.30 with only 10 votes, you're a tough one. Well the post is excellent I can not deny congratulations. ;)
Yes, it's that good. LOLOL jk! :P
Did you get a free hug? lol. When's the BKK meetup?
What do you mean by getting a free hug? :D BKK meet up was a few weeks ago tho I just started the Steemit meetup group on meetup.com which I would love to have it once a week or 2 weeks. Not sure which one you're talking about, I'm too confused hahaha LOL Hey, could I hit you up on the discord channel? Well, will do haha :D
Because you said that they give free hugs! Haha yes you can. And you did haha love it

Hey waybeyondpadthai! looks like you had a "real" tourist experience in Thailand! haha! You are so kind to show your friends around the touristy islands!
Hahaa call me 'Mo' chef! :) We were all tourist there, basically. I didn't know anything there. First time! and yes, I'm that kind that I would also be down to show you and your wife (which also Thai?) around as well. Let me know! :)
The fried noodle is some tempting so @waybeyondpadthai :-)
