RE: My Florence vegan experience

in #travelfeed6 years ago

Another very thorough review! It is great to hear both the good and the bad as I know that can definitely help other vegans who may end up there in their own travels. That seems to be the case in a lot of places that vegetarian really isn't too hard, but those restaurants always sneak butter, lard or any number of animal products in the most unlikely places. My sister has a sensitivity to onions and garlic. It isn't really a full-blown allergy, but it makes her feel quite ill to eat them. Unfortunately she usually has to resort to telling a restaurant it is in fact an allergy just to be sure they won't put it in there. Being allergic to cruelty can be a thing, right?

Thank you for your comment Katie. I didn't feel very comfortable posting the negative stuff too but well, the review must be honest and not everything is good :) I'm glad you like the review like this.

It is so hard with allergies in some countries. Sometimes you feel like a fool when you try to CONVINCE the waiter not to bring you something you can't have.

Oh, I love onions and garlic. It would make me very sad if I couldn't eat them anymore. I hope she doesn't enjoy the taste of them then :)

You presented it in a very honest way, so it doesn't come off in a bad way at all. Many times constructive criticism is a good motivator for restaurants to do better! 🙂

Luckily my family has gotten good at subbing for onions and garlic when we all get together. She does have a hard time eating out though because it's in everything! I think some places are easier for me even to get a vegan meal than her avoid those.
