Winter trip - Hornád Canyon

This hike through the Slovak Paradise National Park is 16 km long. It goes over the river Hornád and it is necessary to overcome many ladders and risers.

But if it is severe winter and the river freezes it is something completely different.

Winter passage through this passage brings a different view of the Slovak Paradise.

The winter was good for us in 2018 and my friends and I went on a winter crossing of the Hornád Canyon. Our journey started in Hrabušice, where we arrived by bus. Through the field we have reached the tourist route of the Hrdlo Hornádu . That's where our ice adventure began. We entered the river and after its frozen riverbed we entered the canyon.

Along the way we passed one icefall after another. One more beautiful than the other. Nature has a great imagination and it has been shown to the fullest.

Around the middle of the hike we came to the cave. It was full of ice caps.

What to say? Not everyone can say that he was cycling on the river.

I must say that it was an extraordinary experience of walking on ice when a wild river flowed beneath us.
