in #travelfeed6 years ago

Hello dear friends Steemians

I greet you from my little corner of Steemit, where again I have the opportunity to share with you the third part of my journey through the beautiful city of Merida, my beautiful Venezuela, English version. I have great memories of this trip was truly unforgettable, this time I want to show what was the visit to the colorful Main Market of the well known City of the Knights, this market has been a tourist reference for many years and represents with every detail you find there, the entire Andean region.

In a multi-storey building, located on Avenida Las Américas, is this famous market, quite different from what we are used to in this country, a place where what stands out most is the organization, an area for spices of all kinds, an area full of agricultural products from the region, handicrafts, flowers, sweets and stop to count, really a must-see full of the idiosyncrasies of Merida.

2.PNG

It consists of three floors full of people, customs, food, shops and lots of activity, this building has been visited by tourists for more than 30 years and typical of the region, is quite clean and with a very wide variety.

We started to walk around the place finding passageways identified with letters, this being a great idea, as there are so many shops that you get lost.

Previously this market was located in the center of the city, right around Plaza Bolívar, in uncomfortable facilities, compared to this new and extensive infrastructure, currently has 440 commercial premises and a group of entrepreneurs who every day give their best smile offering their work to visitors.

We can see wide corridors with the comfort required by the visitor, who will have the opportunity to appreciate and purchase a wide variety of items like nowhere else. Fresh and tempting products fill the shelves of the premises; vegetables, fruits, vegetables, meats, sweets, honey, wines, breads, Andean arepas are some of the things that will delight your eyes and palate.

Following recommendations from family and friends in the area, the first stop was the stall of the famous "Andean Lift", also called "Bomba", a barley based drink containing strawberries, milk, brandy, beef eyes, sugar, cinnamon and many other things that give it a particular flavor and to which they attribute aphrodisiac effects, which arouses curiosity in more than one, I also dared to try.

4.PNG

This market has been catalogued as a pleasant place for tourists who always want to return (as in my case), every time I visit Mérida in my program there is an exclusive day for this visit, there is so much to see that the day flies by in its facilities.... without thinking about it you will take crafts, hats, scarves, souvenirs, rag dolls, paintings, wood carvings, in short, you will want to carry many things for your return.

6.PNG

The publicity of this market is undoubtedly made by all those tourists who visit it and fall in love, for the most part, with the variety you can find in the place and this is the impression you give to family and friends, who will surely visit the place, these facilities are part of the history of Merida since its inauguration in August 1987.

It's fun to stroll around all the places, finding in them the usual clay crafts, ceramic containers, beautiful and colorful souvenirs, even innovative ideas in acetate, a great idea to decorate and impregnate environments with a classic and modern touch.

The organization is the first dish of these facilities, on the first floor you will find fresh and dried fruits, sweets, handicrafts, cake shops, chicha, vitamin, among others, following the second floor you will find delicatessens, butchers, restaurants, coats, hats, wooden games, liquors and much more, finishing on the third floor with a beautiful art exhibition, a dining room where you can taste typical and Creole dishes and some shops that will captivate you.

Speaking of food, I took advantage of the opportunity to taste, in one of the many restaurants that are available in the market, the famous Andean fish, a good trout accompanied by a strawberry shake, which allowed me to recharge the energy consumed in the ride, everything was delicious and affordable prices.

7.PNG

Asking the owners of the premises they told me that the market had future plans to grow, the idea of a fourth floor was already being discussed, the objective is to build a good convention hall and more restaurants, taking advantage of the beautiful view of Pico Bolivar, being assisted by a team of architects graduated from the local university (ULA), who will be in charge of the design of the project.

At the end of my walk I took some pictures in fun places destined for it, it is always good to have a souvenir of each place visited, even if the best ones are always in your heart.
