Exploring the Yorkshire East Coast Day 3: Whitby
Sometimes history can help you learn about a place I learned that when I went to Whitby Abbey in a seaside town called Whitby
We set on at around 10AM for a 1 hr 30 min drive to Whitby Abbey, it is a very old building that was built around the 657 AD in the Anglo-Saxon era.
We didn't actually do much while in Whitby as we didn't have much time to do anything so all we could really do was have a look in the shop and take some pictures outside the abbey.
And take some pictures outside of the ocean, which looked absolutely stunning!
After we took some pictures we went to the shop and I bought a Dinosaur tooth that was there.
Some history of Whitby: "Dracula" is largely associated with Whitby as he once came to it and in the 15th century a prince called Vlad Tepes who people will know as Vlad the Inpaler was said to impale his enemies at the stakes. He was known as "The son of the dragon."
Around 400 years later someone called Bram Stoker was inspired by that story and created the character called "Dracula" where in 1892 in Whitby a Russia ship was shipwrecked called the Dmitry and that inspired the story of Dracula!

Ah Whitby Abbey and Vlad the Impaler! Brings back memories of when I was there in 2016. Did you walk up to the ruins at the top of the hill there? Pretty special feel to the place. Nice one!

Yeah we did walk with the ruins for a bit! We didn't have much time though lol.
Ah pity, it's a lovely place! Did you go to the world famous fish and chip shop Winking Willys in Scarborough?
No, Sadly we didn't maybe next time though!
Oh I have always wanted to go to Whitby. Ive been to York twice but not made it there! Maybe next trip.
