RE: A Joust and Historical Days in Den Haag (Netherlands)
Looked like a warm day by what visitors are wearing, cannot imagine being in costumes that weight a ton, although very well done matching the times.
Sword fighting with make belief swords they would have to use, the weight of real swords, well let's just say I don't think modern day people would know how to lift them for long periods of time. Went off with a bang full of enjoyment, so good for children to learn about history all in a days outing @bengy

Well... warm day... here in Netherlands, if the weather hits above 20 centigrade, it's all shorts and t-shirts!
With the weighting of the wooden swords, they do weight them to approximate a real sword. That means that thy are much thicker, or have additional weights. They are quite tiring to swing around!... and that's why they bruise like crazy!
Wearing those heavy costumes and using equipment on a par with the time period these people must have been exhausted by the end of the day.
