One-day trip
I thought I’ve discovered all good places to visit and suitable for one day trip from Bucharest. Well, it turned out I didn’t. I’ve read a story written by a friend of mine about a little known and not so crowded place and I went to visit it on Saturday. Its name is Maneciu Ungureni, located in Prahova County, at 2 hours drive from Bucharest.
The point of attraction here is the artificial Maneciu lake and Maneciu dam. The dam was built on Teleajen River in order to ensure the drinking water and electrical power for a few localities.
We left the car near the lake and went to explore by foot. The weather was perfect for a walk. On the pier we run into the guard who is taking care of a few stray dogs. One of them came with us on a trip. He was always with a few steps ahead of us because, of course, he knew the road o well. The road was suitable for car too, but this wasn’t the point of the trip, to see the mountain from inside of the car.
The wood is combined: there are both deciduous trees and coniferous, brown and green, naked or fully dressed. The silence is so pleasant, if you stop for a while, you can hear the leaves falling.
I didn’t expect to see at the end of October this beautiful little flowers we almost sat on:
This is the view over the lake from where we climbed. The dog was in for a selfie and rested when we did.
At descent, we left the main road and took a path through the woods. The path was marked, so if you have enough time or stay overnight at one of many guest houses in this area, you can discover other attractions.
