Travel Digest #38
Hi. It's @choogirl here bringing you the 38th edition of #traveldigest. We have quite a lot of new travel bloggers featured today so please stop by their blogs if you see something you like. While the website is experiencing organic growth, I have also been going around spamming commenting on the travel posts I like, inviting them to use the map. It seems to be paying off.
As always, all posts featured here will be put on our Editors Choice Map. If you want to learn more about Steemit Worldmap, you can check the introduction post or check the FAQ section on the website!
1. Completing the Iceland Ring Road — Day 7: Glittering Black from Vik to the Finish Line; Crashing Planes, Waves, and Eruptions
I think we are all a little sad to find out that this post completes @crimsonclad's Iceland Ring Road journal. Today she learns the dangers of 'sneaker waves' on a deserted black sand beach. As the crowds arrive, she takes off in her now-wet boots, and discovers what is left of a forty-year-old DC-3 fuselage. She then pulls in to Skógafoss falls, which are renowned for throwing a mist so thick, that rainbows perpetually arc in doubles and triples of brilliant light. As the sun sets, she visits one last geysir before heading to her final cabin.

2. The Imperial Residences – Russia in two weeks - Part II
Next we head to St. Petersburg, Russia with @best-trip-eva to tour the royal palaces. She begins at Winter Palace which hosts the world's biggest museum—Hermitage. Petergoff (or Peterhof) is next and full of fountains to play in, so visit on a sunny day. She then heads to Pushkin to see the most beautiful palace—Catherine Palace. This can be combined with Alexander Palace, which is next door. Both are surrounded by beautiful parks, world-famous architect designed buildings, and stunning bridges. Her final stop is Gatchina Palace, which is nestled among numerous lakes and ponds.

3. Royal Arch Loop Grand Canyon 5 Day Backpack
Finally we head to the Grand Canyon in the USA with @doverland. This epic hiking and camping adventure starts at the South Bass trail head in Arizona. Over a five day period, @doverland climbs over rocks and boulders, rappels down canyons, and makes her way around spillways on ledges with steep loose rocks. There is plenty of time for rest and relaxation though as she enjoys swimming in the Colorado River at Toltec beach, South Bass beach and in Elves Chasm.

Great choices! I was bummed my post about the Taipei Airport didn't get added to the world map yesterday for some reason. https://steemit.com/travel/@schmidthappens/my-transit-through-taipei-a-tour-of-an-entertaining-and-educational-airport
Hmm... That's weird. The map is being a bit glitchy at the moment and I've got a list of posts going that are disappearing. I've added yours to the list given you didn't even get the auto-response--that's new.
Hopefully @martibis will be back in Belgium tomorrow and he can take a look at it.
