Travel With Me #3 :: Durban South Africa, Building a Mermaid on the Beach!

Hi everyone,

Here is the next part in our holiday adventure!

Our hotel was quite far away from the beach, so we only ended up going to the beach about 3 times. One of which, was a specific beach day, that we spent in Umhlanga. I have quite a few other photos from that day, but I will include those in another post.

One of the things we were really looking forward to was making some sort of sand castle, because we are adult children, and we enjoy building stuff.

Josh decided to test out his skills by building a moat, and thank goodness for that because we realised a little while in that the tide was rising. Just our luck! It then turned into a race against the waterline that was trying to destroy my masterpiece. I built her right behind his moat, and near the end the moat definitely saved my mermaid from an early release back into the ocean.

The beach was quite empty, so not a lot of people to judge my childish ways. The only people near us was a lovely group of ladies who showed much sympathy whenever the tide almost took my mermaid.

Here you can see what remained of Joshua's moat while I added the last details!

Although rather uneven looking, I thought she was quite a cute mermaid, and I was happy to have her done just before high tide hit and we went home!
