Have you ever heard a story about land above the clouds ? Do you believe it ? Have you been there ? Actually. What’s land above the clouds and where is it ? Have you ever wanted to taste the clouds in your hair and run the mist through your fingers ? for some people it’s folk, but for me it’s a feeling. A feeling that appeared when we stepped on the land namely “Takengon, Central Aceh – Gayo Highland”.

Aceh Tengah (Central Aceh) is a regency in Aceh Province with Takengon as capital. Located in highland of cold weather called “Gayo Highland” with average height between 1200 to 1700 meters above the sea level (mdpl), making this area surrounded by mountains and natural forest at a high altitude. This area offers charming scenery that creating an awe–inspiring sight where you can see the forming of clouds and their subtle movement just before your eyes. An experience that will make you feel like you are standing above the clouds. It makes the reason why people called as “Negeri diatas awan” (land above the clouds).
Takengon, Central Aceh has a unique blend of local culture, tourist object, stunning natural beauty and culinary delight. lake and mountains are important icons that make this area one of the reasons tourist visit Aceh. The lake namely “Lut Tawar lake", the largest lake in the province of Aceh. This lake also has naturally unique habitat, such as fish called “Depik”, which can not be found in other areas.
