Iconic Carousel- Portland, Oregon- One of Oldest Amusement Parks in USA
"Oaks Amusement Park, which was known as the Coney Island of the Northwest, opened May 30, 1905.
One of the 10 oldest amusement parks in the country, it is the only amusement park in Portland that is still in operation (www.pdxhistory.com/html/oaks_park.html, Oct. 31 2016)."
There are hand painted scenes around the center...
The outer ring stays stationary while the inner two have animals that move up and down
This carousel is amazing....
Oaks Amusement Park also has a roller coaster called Looping Thunder...
And a few dozen other classics like the scrambler, tilt-o-whirl, Ferris Wheel, miniature golf, go-carts, a skating rink and an adorable little train that gives rides around the perimeter of the park...
I loved coming to Oaks Park as a child and love to bring my children there. Another great feature is that you can walk to the beach of the Multnohma River and enjoy the beautiful Sellwood Park then return to enjoy more rides. During summer there is a buy one get one ride bracelet deal so I was able to get unlimited rides for me and 5 of my children for under $50 USD for all day fun. You can leave to have a picnic and come back because they are open til 9pm and the bracelet is valid all day. Oaks Amusement Park is pretty small, but it is iconic and affordable fun for the whole family is you are ever in the Portland Oregon area...
Do you have any cool Amusement Parks in your area?
Our Family loves it too! Rainy day roller skates :)
