Kuhi-Malik Fiery Caves

The Kuhi-Malik Fiery Caves is one of the top attractions and sights to see in Tajikistan. It is a subject in one of Herodotus’ many travels. He termed it as underground fires some 3,000 years ago. Actually, if you look at it now, the Kuhi-Malik is not really a cave. It is more like a deep hole on the ground with burning coal, at times. It can be seen and smelled. Caves in Tajikistan can only be penetrated if there is a guide and if safety measures have been employed.
