Nothing beats the Pinoy Food

HAPPY

I am happy again because after a stressful week filled with anxiety, I got the time to think and discern alone. Last week was depressing because I was away from my family and my routine vastly changed in a short span of period.

How I eat changed. Its a huge adjustment where I have to eat very late and a big no to me where I always eat in a fast food chain. I know its unhealthy but I have no choice but to adjust and endure the struggle.

I was thankful that my depressing thoughts vanished for awhile in those days with my sister. Thankful enough I could eat well with her and not think about anything but the food and our bond.

The heavy energy inside me lighten when we ate in a Filipino restaurant.

I missed the usual food for the house which are called the real food for the body. The usual food in the house like Sinigang, Tortang Talong, Bangus, Adobong KangKong and many more. I was delighted to eat like those food again, where it gave me a boost of energy.

I was reminded on how to reach happiness and it was to eat right and drink water all the time. That was my basic understanding in order not to be moody and irritable.

We dine out at Bacolod chicken inasal and my expectations for the food met. Moreover, I also learned something in the restaurant.

"The Story of Inasal - This recipe of prime chicken cuts marinated in choice herbs and spices, skewered on bamboo sticks , then basted with achuete oil and grilled, has always been a beloved staple of Bacolod Cuisine. When the Spaniards discovered this mouthwatering dish, they assumed the chicken roasted "Asar" in Spanish. The natives adopted the verb but could not pronounce the hard "r" at the end. So the name "Inasal" was born... lightly tripping off your tongue and delighting your taste buds."

I was excited again to eat something that is not fried and processed food. The picture on the wall was mouth-watering and physically appetizing.

Another food chain would pass my standards for real food would be Mang Inasal which I am thankful they offer unlimited rice. I could not believe that I could eat four to five scoops of rice. Although I know that they are still fast food and they are unsafe to my health I would control myself to have a healthy lifestyle.

Anywhere we go, we would really create something that can connect us to our roots. For me the outlet was this food, I felt revived and connected back to my home. If you feel alone and away from home, I suggest that you eat well and eat something that reminds you like your mom's special dish.

I told myself that nothing beats the Filipino food. It brought me back to my roots and somehow I got the chance to unwind my mind.
