Beautiful Maine Vacation In Belfast
This first picture is of our cottage at Wonder View Cottages in Belfast right on the shore of Penobscot Bay. Wonderful little vacation cottages straight out of the 1950's. We have stayed there twice now and it was great both times. We love the Belfast area because it is centrally located and we can go explore almost any part of the state and be back in the same day.
If you turn around from the first picture, this view is looking down the stairs to the beach.
This is looking North from the bottom of the stairs just at Sunrise during low tide.
Same shot just after full daylight.
Maine's State Motto should be "We've Got Rock". One evening we went down here just at dark and this beach was littered with 1000's of Starfish
We found this beautiful old cemetery that seemed to separate the "Old Belfast" from the new part of town. Some of the statuary here was really incredible.
As I mentioned earlier, you can go almost anywhere in a day. One day we left our cottage at about 03:00 am and headed North to Acadia National Park to visit Cadillac Mountain. It is the Easternmost point in the U.S.A. to see the sun in the morning. Sadly we didn't make it in time to catch the sunrise but this picture is looking Northeast from shortly after.
Another Day Trip that we took was to Bar Harbor for a Whale Watching Tour on a very high speed Catamaran that does Whale Tours during the Summers in Maine and does Ft Myers to Key West trips in Florida during the Winter.
This is Mount Baldy as you're leaving Bar Harbor out into the Gulf of Maine.
These are Humpback Whales feeding near our boat. Laws and regulations prevented our Captain from getting any closer. Next time I'll know to take a much better camera.
Sadly after 9 days we had to end our vacation and head back to Florida to dream about the next time we can return to Maine and continue our exploration of this beautiful state.
So nice of a place to visit!😍
