Nicht die beste Kombi
Jetlag vom feinsten und dann steht man in seinem neuen zu Hause für die nächsten paar Wochen. Ich wäre am liebsten sofort wieder zur Tür raus und nach Hause geflogen. Für die meisten wahrscheinlich zum schmunzeln aber für mich war es in dem Moment der pure Horror.
Total übermüdet und hungrig in dem für mich gänzlich unbekannten Australien stehen wir in einem 6-Bett Zimmer in unserem Hostel. Für mich eine völlig neue Situation, da wir zu Hause schon unsere eigene Wohnung mit 80 qm hatten und nun hab ich nur noch das obere Quartier von einem Stockbett inkl. einem kleinen Spind.
Not the best combo
Having the worst Jetlag in your life and then you are standing in your home for the next few weeks. I just wanted to turn around and take the next flight home. Maybe most of us will laugh about this but for me it was just horror at this moment. So tired and hungry and then you are in the foreign country Australia standing in the 6-bed-room in our Hostel. For me a really new situation because at home we used to have our own 80 qm flat and know i just own the top part of a bunk bed and a little locker.
Wieder gefühlte 14 Jahre jung
Man fühlt sich wieder wie im Schullandheim. Die unteren Betten haben wenigstens noch den Luxus, dass sie ihre Bettgitter mit den Bettlaken abhängen können und so etwas Privatsphäre erlangen. Alles liegt auf dem Boden als stünde man im Zimmer von mitten in der Pubertät steckenden Teenagern. Aber da das Hostel pro Woche schon 280 AUD ink. 2 Abendessen und Internetzugang kostet können bzw. wollen wir uns im Moment noch nichts anderes leisten.
Feeling like 14 years again
You feel like you are in a school country home. The bottom bunk beds are lucky that they can make theirself a little bit of privacy with hanging bedsheet around their bed. Everything is lying on the ground and you could think you are standing in the room of a 14 year old girl. But even the Hostel costs us 280 AUD with two dinners per week and Internetaccess so we can´t and just don´t want to afford something else.
Sauber?
Für den Preis ist es wenigstens immer sauber in der Küche und auch die Bäder werden fünf mal am Tag geputzt. Trotzdem ist es was anderes Badezimmer zu benutzen, in dem schon so viele Menschen vor dir drin waren als wenn man einfach zu Hause in seine vetraute Dusche steigt.
Auch dreht sich mir der Magen um, wie ich sehe, dass die Housekeeper die warme Decke nicht austauschen und dann auch noch auf dem dreckigen Boden zusammen legen. Gekehrt wird nämlich nur um all die Sachen herum.
Clean?
For this high price you get most of the time a clean kitchen and also the bathrooms are cleaned five times daily. But it´s something different to use a bathroom were so many people left their hairs and smells bevore you use it. You are missing your own familiar shower.
I also got really shocked if i saw that the housekeeper didn´t change the warm blanket and fold them on the dirty ground together. Because they just clean if there is nothing lying on the ground.

Organisation ist alles!
Seine Lebensmittel kann man in einen Kühlschrank stopfen und hoffen, dass am nächsten Tag noch alles drinnen ist. Besteck und Teller gibt es für einen geringen Pfand, die man dann in sein Fach sperren kann. Wenn man es nicht macht, hat man halt am nächsten Tag eine Gabel oder eine Tasse weniger. Beim essen trifft man immer viele neue Leute, was wirklich der größte Vorteil an so einem Hostel ist. Egal ob man abends was unternehmen möchte oder Tipps für die Arbeitssuche braucht, es findet sich immer genau der passende dafür.
Organization is everything!
You can put your grocery in a big fridge with a little bit of hard pushing. Because it is so full and you can just hope that everything is still inside the next day. For a little deposit you get cutlery and grocery to lock in your sompartment. If you forget to lock it there is maybe one fork or mug less the next day. The best thing is that you meet so many people especially in the kitchen. It doesn´t matter if you want to party or if you need a good advice to search a job, you will always find the right people for that.
Sozialleben:
Als Paar ist es natürlich etwas schwierig mit so null Privatsphäre auszukommen und auch gleichgesinnte zu treffen, da die meisten immer nur Party machen möchten. Auch die immer gleichen Fragen „Wo warst du schon überall, Wo willst du noch hin, Was arbeitest du?“ gingen uns irgendwann auf den Sack, da man alles die gleichen Fragen ungefähr jedes mal gestellt bekam, wenn man jemanden kennen lernte.
Als wir dann anfingen zu arbeiten und nachts um drei Uhr die besoffenen gröllend ins Zimmer kamen, beschlossen wir in ein WG-Zimmer zu ziehen. Leider machten wir gleich mit unserer ersten Wohnung ein riesigen Griff ins Klo.
Sociallife:
To life their as a couple is not so easy with so less privacy. Also to meet people like yourself is not that easy because most of the people just want to drink and make party. And the people always ask the same question „Where have you been, Where do you want to ge next, What are you working...“ and you have to repeat it every time you meet a new person what is really anoying.
As soon es we got a job we decided to search for a shared flat because there were so many times were we had to get up at 5 am and at 3 am the drunk people were coming in to the room not really silent. But with our first flat we took the most bad one you could find.
