Thomas Edison and Henry Ford Winter Estates - Ft. Myers, Florida - Edison's Lab
We took a trip to visit the Edison and Ford Estates in Fort Myers, FL. This was a cool place to visit! But the weather was hot! These were the vacation homes for both Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. They have a museum on site, but we spent so much time touring the grounds that we didn't have time to go through the museum. So we'll have to go back one day. This is a video of my photos from our visit.
There is a lot to see here. There are 3 houses, 2 gift shops, a museum and Edison's botanical lab. Thomas Edison was researching what plants could be used as sources of rubber other than the rubber trees. He developed his own breed of goldenrod plant that was used to extract rubber from it. This lab was where this research was being done.
