Let's go wandering....Japan#5- Osaka(大阪)
Hey there Steemians!
It has been a while since our last post, but would like to jump back in and introduce our next wandering destination: OSAKA (大阪). The city that is well known for a lot, and I mean, A LOT of street food!!! FOOD and scenery is what the wandertwins are all about!
Osaka is known more for its industrial architecture and nightlife. But it has its own historic charm, especially the most popular destination, the Osaka Castle. We did take up the chance to see the historic landmark and snapped quite a few photos complimented by the beautiful cherry blossoms.
Osaka was a measly day trip, and we wished we had an extra day just to explore some more, but I believe we got a well worth it experience in the end with the foodie explorations. We definitely wanted to see how the night life was like and boy we were in for a big treat. We spent most of our time eating down the long stretch of Dotonbori.
Hustlin and bustlin at night, Dotonbori is iconic with its neon lights, and giant 3D like signage running on both sides of the Dotonbori River. In our opinion, it reminds us of a digital aged version of Venice! But what caught our attention was how much street food and restaurant options there were. And how it is packed everywhere! We tried what supposedly was well known in Osaka:
Okonomiyaki- a type of Japanese savory pancake that can be mixed with multiple ingredients of your choosing. We stumbled on a random restaurant and tried it. It was not bad, but we mistakenly realized it was not the intended restaurant we wanted to try it from..but oh well.
We also tried their Takoyaki as well. Well..our reliable companion @travelmagician did, and he loved it!
But the most memorable snack we ate was this bustling joint right on the strip: Kushikatsu Daruma. Deep fried battered skewers of all sorts! Yummm, who could say no to that?!
Awesome small eats was the charm in our opinion for this portion of our trip!! If we ever get a chance to go Japan again, and hopefully soon, we would love to spend more time in Osaka. But until then...
Wander on!

Dotonburi is definitely on my travel list! The food is my biggest draw to travel to Japan! :D
