Udaipur, The UdaiVilas Experience : Trip to the City of Lakes
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about our time in beautiful Udaipur. I have been posting from all over the globe but I think its time I share with you guys, our beautiful country. Udaipur is a city in the state of Rajasthan, India. It is known as the City of Lakes and make hell of a trip. I have been going to Udaipur since I was a child as my aunt lives there but it was the first time I went as a tourist. We decided to celebrate our anniversary at the Luxury Resort - Oberoi Udaivilas. Located at shores of Lake Pichola, watching the sunset from our private infinity pool and the incredible Indian food and Masala chai we indulged while the stay was something I will cherish forever. I never knew this side of Udaipur.
This hotel is definitely a splurge, but wow, is it worth it in every way! You feel like you’re walking into a palace and our arrival at the Udaivilas was no different. We arrived on the grounds by having rose petals thrown over our heads that seemingly floated from the sky above us, and then being shown through the lobby and grounds to our room, a special surprise from the general manager which he was so excited to show us our private pool and lake view, which truly was spectacular. The best thing about the start was we didn’t have to check in at the front desks at all, they did everything in our rooms, which is so nice when you’re tired and just want to get to your room. We had driven from Jaipur to Udaipur a 5 hours drive so we were totally ready to just tuck in.
Lake Pichola surrounded by the Aravilli hills provides a perfect romantic backdrop for the picturesque collection of gracious palaces sprinkled around the lake like delicate lace lily pads.We were there to celebrate our Anniversary so they gave us this yummilicious dark chocolate mousse and decorated our room with rose petals . They even filled our bathtub with rose petals too. A regal experience. We had informed them in advance when we had a call asking us our meal preferences and the reason for our travel. HOSPITALITY at its best.
Sorry the above image is blurr, I was intoxicated. This photo was taken from the restaurant Upre. Oh, what a view. The food was great too. The hotel arranged a speed boat for us to be taken there. FREE. Felt so special and royal. It was a nice 10 minute ride and we could see the Lake Palace crossing on our right and the beautiful Udaipur fort. The one you can see in the picture too.
If somebody is travelling to India - I would DEFINITELY suggest them to go to Udaipur and if you can spend extra $$, UdaiVilas is the property you should look for staying.
Until next time.
Safe travels. :)
