Banff National Park - Winter must go!
Banff National Park is located in Alberta, Canada, a province between British Columbia (with it's capital Vancouver) and Saskatchewan. The closest biggest city is Calgary, but it's only a 3-4 hour drive from Edmonton.
I love the Canadian Rockies and like to be in Banff at least once a year. I'm going to share with you some of the activities I like to do during winter. I'm not into ski or snowboard, though the area is very famous for its ski hills. I am though very into hikes and being outside when the weather permits.
Lake Louise
If you google Lake Louise you're most likely to find photos of it's blue lake in the summer. The view during winter, though, is just as charming.
Things to do in Lake Louise
- Check out their ice sculptures:
- Have a meal or two at the Fairmont Hotel
- Skate at the lake
Johnston Canyon
Not a long drive from Lake Louise is Johnston Canyon. It takes 45 min to an hour to get up to the falls, but there are lots of stops in between to appreciate the view.
These are just two of my favourite spots to visit during winter, but there are lots more. Let me know if you would like more information and I'll be honoured to pass it on to you.
Cheers and hope you get to experience these places live, as photos don'd do them justice!
woooooooooow, that crystal palace is amazin!!!!!!!
it sure is, I've been in Canada for five years and they do it every year!
Lake Louise is pretty. I've been there around May, the lake was still frozen but still beautiful. I never heard of Johnston canyon tho. I should put that on my list next time I visit Banff. Great post and pictures. Thanks for sharing
