A beautiful and adventurous day in Cambodia - friendship at the other end of the world - Travel with Salima & Timo
2 months ago we were for 4 weeks in Cambodia. More specifically, the Baray in Siem Reap. This lake is next to Ankor Wat, the ancient temple where the film Top Raider was filmed.
On this day we went with our scooter to this lake. The first sight was a little sobering. simple houses on the shore, but we were received equally friendly and it changed abruptly.
Children played in the water and bathed in the lake. We decide to take the scooter with the scooter around the sea. But while we had arrived at half, it suddenly poured out of buckets. Not only that our cameras threatened the end by water damage, but we were with our little Emilia completely down to the underpants.
In spite of a muddy path, we ran back again and sought shelter, since even under the trees no spot remained dry. After about 15 minutes we passed a hut where a Cambodian family had called us in. The family was so friendly and gave us fresh dry clothes. We were surprised how they looked after us and the little one.
You can believe that we were very happy about it. In addition, they invited us to dinner and a new friendship and contact with the dear people. We were moved by so much love.
A few days later we washed the clothes, washed them, and returned them with a little something as a thank you. What came from the heart, we have returned with heart. Sometimes such contacts lead to contacts that would otherwise not have been possible. Crazy, right?
On this day we went completely around the lake and it took our breath away. No tourists, the pure nature and the locals on the fields and with the cows on the road. A special experience far from tourism. A sunset of the same looks. A day we will not forget.
If you also want to go to Cambodia (Siem Reap), it is worth the detour to the dam. Tip: If you're driving around the lake, you'll come to a place that really looks like a beautiful wild prairie. Eternally quiet country with travel plantations, water buffaloes trotting through the lake and friendly locals who always welcome you.
see you on the next post,
Love and hug from Salima & Timo
Cambodia looks like a fantastic place. Fantastic orange sun pic! You have something called colorchallenge each day on Steemit. The orange sun could be a good contender for TuesdayOrange. Or you could use it as SunThursday:)
thank you @janusface i will try next days to join the challenge
Hi Salima and Timo! Thank you for bringing us on your travels around Asia. Your daughter is so lucky to be a part of these adventures. What an incredible gift you are giving her!
thank you so much @osm0sis not everyone see that as a gift, but we. our child daughter is learning and feeling every day of the travel. thanks that you see it same
The education she is getting through travelling is priceless, don't ever let anyone make you doubt that! In my adventures, I have met a few couples travelling (long-term travelers or short-term expats) with not just 1 but sometimes 2, 3 and even 4 of their children, from tiny toddlers to teenagers. They were all outspoken, open-minded, and genuinely happy children :)
Look forward to reading your future posts!
Great that you see like we the world. Happy to meet you here :-)
